Greg used pillows for a while, but someone (I can't remember who) invested in the floaters you guys are talking about. We may or may not get those before the party, but hopefully the solution will be stopped. The only person using turntables that evening upstairs, and don't quote me 100% on this, would be Shiva. I'm sure Adam will chime in and reiterate all of this.

Calm down. To my knowledge, he uses Abelton to do mixed "DJ" sets,, but it is not considered a live set (PA). He WILL be upstairs. I believe Adam (and/or Shiva) explained this before.

I know this response is a little late, but I didn't have any issues using Safari. Which, IMO, you should use anyway. :P

Surgeon's set is a "live remix" set of sorts. I wouldn't call it a live pa, and i wouldn't call it a DJ set.
his tracklistings in the last year include reworked, and remixed tracks by Coil, LFO, Aphex Twin, and the usual techno suspects. These tracks are reworked LIVE on a Macintosh computer. It doesn't take much to skip a Technics but it takes a whole hell of alot to skip a Powerbook ;)

and Surgeon is playing UPSTAIRS.

also, i'll be playing Live, and we hope to use the freefloat system during Shiva's DJ set upstairs for a skip-free evening of music. I've used the freefloats overseas for almost every gig last year, and they really DO work.

did i mention its $5?

Surgeon will be playing from 11pm to 12:30am especially for folks like you that have things to do early Monday. Get there early and get ya drink on!

Regarding turntables skipping at Bourbon Street.

I can guarantee you that will never be an issue again. You must think i'm crazy, but i truley believe that the days of people dancing and causing the needles to skip are past.

I've used these things alot in the last 12 months and the only time i've had tables skip on them, it was my fault for being a drunken DJ hehehe.
