Dave Owen doesn't "flake out" on his bookings; iQ Entertainment DJs are rarely a problem for us.

http://iqentertainment.net/wp/

well...not to air out any dirty laundry but he asked me if i wanted his slot because there was no compensation for playing, even for travel. if my memory serves me correctly he said he was offered a +10 on the list instead of gas money or any other accomodations. sorry, but i have no reason to fabricate something like this...

and perhaps, from what i gather, it's not dave flaking out on anyone but rather he's being flaked out on. pay the guy ffs.

expecting the people who are coming out to bring money in your door to do it on their own dime 2 hours away from home is disrespectful as hell IMO. "go out and promote our event to your friends, drive 2 hours, play for an hour and we'll give ya a time slot then we'll just keep the door money for your time" It's a kick in the crotch. The blatant abuse of the local djs in the area is getting old to be honest. Gas is not free kids, at this point we're paying to play and I know for a FACT that Dave doesn't need this gig to make or break him as an artist. The dude has tunes signed to effin FABIO'S label and you can't give him gas money? I got gas money from Turtle for playing in Fort Wayne in October at a party that was less of a draw, this is NYE, you'll have people in the building. Show the djs some fuckin love. I'm sure you're paying all the djs whose names are in BIG fonts

without the djs, you have no music. without the music, you have no point.

All artists booked for this event ACCEPTED some sort of offer prior to the promotion.

Proposals to each ARTIST may vary to some degree, but in all cases every detail of the booking is disclosed to the ARTIST/AGENT in advance; that they may make an educated decision regarding the suitability of the offer.

Some DJs ACCEPT the offer, others DENY the offer.

All DJs on the flyer are DJs who ACCEPTED our offer.

Its that simple.
We don't hypnotize / brain wash DJs into playing. Not slight of hand, hoodwinking, or bamboozling.

Should any ARTIST booked for this event have a legitimate grievance, let THAT ARTIST contact us via phone, email, myspace, bluelight, and means of this nature.

Until then, any claims of unethical operation are mere RUMOR; any arguments built on such claims are moot, and divisive.

it's not about that, NO dj on your lineup should be playing out of pocket EVER. If you don't have the capital together to have at least travel expenses for your talent then you shouldn't even start planning an event. +10 on a guest list isn't a fair trade.

+10 on a guest list isn't a fair trade.

+10 on a guest list is merely a perk.

Most of the DJs that play these shows make sacrifices for the music, for the dancefloor.

They also know that the promotion will make sacrifices too.

We dont ask anyone to do anything that we wouldnt do.

In return for all the love the DJs bring to the dancefloor, we push these events much harder than average.

Our myspace bulletins over the last 25 days have been viewed over 4000 times

The interactive flyer has been viewed over 6000 times

We've transmitted email to 6,500 recipients already, with a second email set to follow.

We've posted the event on 50+ websites global and domestic.

Of those websites, over half of the blogs have over 1000 views

We've distributed 95% of the flyers at events, in hand with love and care.

This is but a fraction of the thanks, appreciation, and respect we have for everyone involved.

Any notion that we are grossly capitalizing off the sacrifices of the ARTISTS is a FALSE notion.

We sacrifice right along side them, together as one.

Everyone involved is in it for the music, doing their part to make it an awesome experience worth representing a music that is special in our lives.

This includes the Artists, Sound, Lighting, Designers, Street Teams, Promoters, Coordinators, and the Dancefloor.

NOT $60

NOT $50

NOT $40

NOT $30

NOT $20

NOT $15

JUST $10

hey jimmy...how much do clothes really cost in the matrix?

that's all fine and dandy, bottom line is, your dancefloor is a boring place without DJs. In the current economic situation I think it's ridiculous to not have at least $30 or so alotted in a fund to pay all the driving djs for gas. It should be part of the initial budget along with sound, venue, lights, etc. Just count on it. It's getting old from a dj's standpoint constantly getting asked to do it "for the love" Sorry, the "love" doesn't put food in my belly or gas in my car. If that makes me jaded, so be it. I make a damn good living and have this issue. Imagine the djs who don't have a good day job. At some point the fact that it's all out of their pocket will sway them from djing and we all lose then ;)

jimmy...

you sound like a delusional wannabe-robot. generally here lately you don't sound like that. you give good opinions, etc on other people's threads. but, in this case, you're defensiveness comes out in this robotic syntax that makes me wonder if you really do have metal legs, if you listen to windowlicker while sleeping on your segue dreaming of zeroes and ones.

tbh your responses to my inquiry sounded like an automated message for the city-county building.

PLEASE....PRESS....ONE....FOR....BLAST-OFF....EXCUSES....

my point is this:

i made the statement WEEKS ago about being asked to play in someone's stead and neither you or turtle even gave it any credence. now i know full well your party is going to succeed with or without dave...which is probably why it's a loss you can suffer. but i'm pretty sure that stacy kidd, vaski and slugo ain't playin for +10 perks and arent right along with you in the sacrificial rave-promoter martyrdom you seem to think your non-headliner talent is on board with.

so...instead of diffusing my statement you just went ahead with your automated utopian rave-tastic nonsense. i felt that was an indication you nor turtle had the balls to discuss it on an open forum. i don't think either of you are bad people...and i am rather fond of turtle...but you guys have this way about you that just seems rather "sociopathic". like your dj roster (for the most part) are just pawns in your game of world rave domination.

fuckin weird, man...

Gizzmo hates the "love!!!!" lol

jk

I definitely see your (and George's) point....however....

If Dave did agree to come up for 10 guest listness like the binary guy said, then that's on him.

But I'm obviously not as familiar with the situation as you guys are, and have no real clue....just wanted to interject for a second. :o

I've always wondered how they pay these 200 DJ lineups anyway.

at least your not promised money and watch them pocket the profits later..ther are worse things a promoter can do than not pay, like say theyre going to pay you,and your getting promotion, and then stick you in a back room, and not pay you..and then run a 3k show less than a month later..

no disrespect...but this isn't 1997. gas isn't 88 cents. raves aren't underground anymore.

this isn't at a warehouse. not even close.

as a dj...especially just a local dj filling in the gaps:

RISK > REWARD

ps: i know dave pretty damn well and i would be SHOCKED if he accepted a booking on NYE in a city 100 miles away for a +10 and no gas money.

fuck that...that's bullshit.

Using bots much?
I happened to notice about a week ago that many of the boards this event event was post on over night had event post views of over 1,000 times per board. Some of these boards didn't have an event viewed 1,000 times in history-even if they had 20 pages of comments about the event. Most of the boards I saw this happen on over night didn't have a single comment post about the event-but yet had over 1K views. I'm saying this because I'm sure I'm not the only one who noticed this, so using the above data to show how many times this and that have been viewed in reference to how hard your are promoting your event can be considered a fabrication. Just sayin...

good show, my dear watson!

just read this thread of tirades. i support turtle. jimmi you are acting like a douche. if you give a dj 50 bux the 10 people they would've brought (which would prob be glad to pay 10 for a nye party) would make you 50 bux. by the way a bit is 8 numbers. half bit m.f.
