first light to my eyes
sun through overcast sky and bedroom blinds
and it's already one in the afternoon

you know i've got tons of friends
get along with all the good people
but today theres loneliness carved into the sky
in the shape of a church's steeple

and my mind shifts to yesterday
lit blunt by the waterfall
the sun shone yesterday,
and i was numb when it fell
but now i'm worried about us, man

and we're still just kids
like we missed an important step
am i the only one that feels left behind?

and while the sun pokes through my blinds
my phone rings, and i remember
that if i missed that step
i've been left in back with the best

Honestly,,,,, i think everyone always feels they have missed a step in life. But really I feel you were doing only the steps you were given for whatever reason.
