BlueHues
Bluelighter
You can take as much as you want, but it's not going to start working until a certain point....so it's a waste of suboxone basically, and also, you'll have a ton of it in your system, which could complicate the taper...
^For you, a gradual taper would definitely be the way to go...There's really no benefit to coming off super-fast once you've already been on it for so long...
Suboxone dosage has been a heated debate on Bluelight ever since the original discussion began...I first went on Suboxone in 2005, and have known more people who have been on it then I can even remember, and 8 mgs is the absolute maximum I think anyone should ever need...If that amount doesn't hold you, you should go on methadone...
The key with tapering, if you've been on suboxone for years, is getting as low as possible before jumping off, and giving yourself time to adjust to each drop...A fast taper to get off heroin is a completely different story, with a completely different strategy...
^^
A lot of the horror stories, just like with methadone, are from people on super high doses, not tapering, or tapering incorrectly, just hopping off, not preparing with other meds, etc. If you're an idiot about it, yeah it's gonna be brutal, hah. But if you taper to a low dose over time, come off at the lowest amount possible, and then use something like kratom.. it's really not that bad.
