Hello everyone. My name is Chriss. I am currently addicted to opiates. :( mainly oxycodone, hydrocodone etc. I would really appreciate any quitting methods, ways to seen off oxycodone. Please refrain from saying just man up and quit cold Turkey because I've already tried that. I also don't wanna use methodone or suboxone. So if anybody has any good respectable methods please post on this thread. I would even also exchange emails with people who have also quit using opiates and how they did it. Once again thank you for taking time to read my thread and sew my struggle with opiates **Roxy**

Anybody please help. Admin. Please move this thread to the apprioate place. I'm really struggling here and I'm reaching out to the ppl. Of BL to help me fight the dragon I'm chasng I really want a life free of all opiates!!! :( :( :(
*********PLEASE HELP ANYBODY*******

i moved your thread two hours after you posted it. this is a message board and it takes time to get a proper response, learn to be patient.

I am patient. Sorry I just didn't see it had been moved. It was stil in homeless threads. Thankyou though. And once again I am patient!!!

Why are you opposed to using methadone or suboxone? If used properly, both of those medications can help a lot... the key is to not stay on them very long and taper off. Another option is to use benzos to kick, however that can lead to a benzo problem if you're not careful. You also say you don't want to go cold turkey.. I mean, there are OTC medications you can take to make it more bearable like loperamide and ibuprofen, etc.. but that is still in essence going CT.

What is lopermide? And im opposed to methadone because I work a lot and can't make it to the clinic everyday! & along with my job is why I.can't quit CT. I've tried it many times before.

I'm also interested in coping with withdrawals techniques that people have found helpful for them!! Any suggestions will be greatly appriciated!!! Thank you!

welcome to hell. quit as fast as you can because it just gets worse, and worse, and worse...

stock up on night time flu medicine and motrin, grab your nuts, and hold on tight. youre lucky youre not on done/suboxone. youre looking at a rough week at most. after day 3 youll come back to reality.

Hello. And thanks for your reply. Yes I have heard All the horror stories about (methadone and.suboxone) Wich is why I REFUSE to trade one drug for another. That's all it is. I wanna just stop ALL opiates all together. Wich is why I came here to BL for help!!! :(

If you have a doctor that can prescribe you Clonidine it helps soo much, it lowers your blood pressure to reduce withdrawal. If you were to use sub you could pull it off with a 5-7 day taper to prevent another addiction, in other words use it to get through the worst days while lessening your dose and then stopping quickly.

Well if you want to stop all opiates together, not taper, not do anything and just stop.. Than it looks like you know the only option.. Cold turkey is an option a lot of people use.. it's also something that a lot of people fail at once the sickness gets too great.

There's not much you can do besides stock up on OTC medications, drink a lot of fluids, eat/sleep when you can. It's going to suck but it is possible if you really want it. If you're simply just looking for encouraging words, that's fine, but TDS is probably a more appropriate forum for that.

Have you looked at this thread, Opioid Withdrawal Mega There is a lot of useful info on the different options available to you.

I have a friend who was a bad opiate addict, and she quit using suboxin strips, she swears they saved her life.

I always suggest suboxone to anyone trying to kick their habbit. It can be a god send if used right. Either a rapid taper, or a some-what fast taper is quite effective usually. There will be some withdrawals, but they'll be alot leas minor then cold turkey OC witdrawal. Check the Bupe megathread. There are alot of taler schedules that have been written by people who are very expierenced. Good luck buddy.

Suboxone is a godsend to most people....myself included. Started me out at 24mg and weaned me down after doing 18mg of hydromorophone (diluided) a day, I would advise you to see help, but through a detox, I honestly think its the best way to go, and take home detox kits are just a recipe for disastor IMO, if your really trying to quit cold turkey then.....welcome to hell my friend.

Depending on how much you use, I would strongly suggest going to a detox and letting them help you from there. Trust me I got faith in ya!

I am currently addicted to opiates, but I needed to get off of them last summer. what really helped me was tylenol 2's. you can get them over the counter at your pharmacy. what they are is 300mg of acetaminophen, 15mg of caffeine & 8mg of codeine. it's an opioide & they won't help much, but they will help you get through the day. when I wanted to sleep I just took some nyquil. just try to keep yourself busy! I hope this helps
