IM 'research chemical' injection help? (namely with DPT)

Hello everyone. I've never injected anything into myself, and I was wondering if someone could write up (or at least point me to a decent resource) a general method for IM injection of any random research chemical powder in the SAFEST possible manner. Assume that product has a history of (relatively safe, reported) IM use.

I'm interested in IM-ing DPT. I kind of hate insufflation, and I don't really want to mess around with MAOIs. The HCl salt is available.


I'd like answers to questions such as (but not limited to):
a) What is the best (sterile) solution to dissolve the powder into?
b) What type of needle should be used for the first time?
c) Once the powder is in solution, what is the best method to filter the solution to remove any potential insoluble materials?
d) What's the maximum amount of solution that should be injected into one spot at a given time?


I'd like any info that would help reduce the risk of infection.


I may experiment with a sub k-hole dose of vial-ketamine so that I'm not IM-ing into a full blown psychedelic trip. The whole sterility thing may guide the trip in a bad direction if I'm not sure I've been as safe as possible.

Basically you need to go down to your local needle exchange and get a few things, and perhaps even ask the nurses a few simple questions. It may be best to try not to mention you're using an obscure and little known hallucinogen. They're accustomed to dealing with street level heroin users and even if you go in there saying you're doing K they'll ask silly questions like "Is there much around, should we be worried about it?" etc. They probably won't "get" your measured and studied mindset, and may try to get you into addiction treatment since it's assumed all needle users are abusers.

Just say you're an occasional K user who's tired of clogged sinuses, and read that IM is the best way to use the drug. This is about as close to the truth as you can get, and aside from some greater difficulty in getting the two substances to dissolve, the technique is pretty much the same. I have never used DPT IM but I can give you a rough guide which will get you started:

A) The best sterile solution to use is a sealed vial of bacteriostatic water which will look essentially like a little K vial. If you know how to draw fluid out of one you will be able to do it with this as well. The only difference is they're to be used one time so you can be a little less careful and pull out more water than you think you will need so you can cook the shot properly without it crystallizing. Like I mentioned DPT is a little harder to get into solution than powered K, which you shouldn't really be shooting anyways unless you KNOW it's pharmaceutical grade. But more water may be needed than you're used to, so use a large muscle like your thigh or glutes.

B) For IM injection you will want a needle 3/4" or longer, and as large as you feel you can handle without discomfort. Probably a 1" - 25 gauge will be fine, but you may need to root around at your local exchange for them as most users will go right for the insulin pens, which are ideal for IV use but not IM.

C) The best way to filter particulate matter is to use a micron filter, which you will probably need to order online. Most exchanges don't have them as they're more expensive than cottons, although exponentially more effective. I have only ever shot pharm grade K with just a cotton, as I don't consider what DPT I have to be pure enough to go to the needle with without a proper filter. I have thus never used one, but there are many threads on the subject that a simple search will reveal. LOTS of harm reduction info on here, you've come to the right place

D) I have heard anywhere between 1-2ml should be fine for one location, which seems about right when you think of the mass of your muscles. If you need to use more fluid to get the DPT to dissolve than can fit in one syringe, than you should consider splitting it up into two shots. Just remember this stuff can give you tremors, which are mostly psychosomatic although still powerful. Since you mentioned some trepidation this could be a good option, since a lower dose would warm you up to the state as well as the act. I would recommend against combining it with K the first time since they're known to have a powerful synergy. K also wonks you out just enough where I would worry about being coordinated enough to shoot properly, or doing it without making a mistake. I only shot K twice, but two days in a row, if anything it could get you TOO used to the process and you could end up messing it up. But you feel it out based on your own feeling and ambitions for this trip, have fun and be safe man.

...and I didn't even consider mixing the two. I just figured I'd try IMing K to practice proper technique. I'm not nearly ready for that experience yet. I've done DMT 20+ times, and I couldn't even imagine combining it with K yet. As always, I'll start with a low, low dose of DPT (or whatever) to see how I react.

Oh OK, yeah some people get crazy ideas like "Hey, let's put them in the same syringe, hope they dissolve, and maybe I won't get an abcess!" Ket is actually a great place to start with IM, and if you're a bit chicken for that you can use an insulin pen to shoot just under the skin. That's how I did it the first time, and it's like a time-release injection, by the time you taste the K you know you're going for a ride! Feeling a little dissociated from your body can be helpful in some circumstances, gathering the gumption to do a full IM shot a chem like DPT being one!
