I'm new here so I'm not really sure how this works or if I'm doing this right. But I have a question so here goes...ill start with a little about me. I have been taking hydrocodone for about 10 years now and I have a pretty high tolerance. Ive also taken oxycodone and roxicodone. Something I have never taken is methadone. I was wondering how methidone feels in relation to oxycodone or hydrocodone. Does methidone give you the same feelings? I like the get up and go feeling...extra boost of energy I guess. I'm not a lay back and mellow out person. I was just wondering before I tried it. I don't know much about methidone and I like to be informed before o try something. I appriciate any resoponse!
Thanks!

Hi momma, I am also new. I am addicted to oxy. I was thinking of going to a clinic that supplies people with suboxone or methadone. So I will wait to see who responds to your post here. I am curious also.
If I don't get my oxy, I can't do anything. I have no energy. I am tired, depressed and just can't wait til the next oxy, that is all I think about. Sometimes I have to take 3 at a time.

Methadone is much more potent than oxycodone or hydrocodone, it is a very unique opioid. It has very heavy sedation, not much euphoria to speak of, and has an extremely long duration of action (12-24 hours) with its half life being up to 72 hours. If you like the energetic buzz of Oxycodone, then you will probably not enjoy methadone. Methadone also builds quickly within the system and is fat-soluble making it harder for the body to eliminate. It can raise tolerance very quickly because of this, so make sure to wait a couple weeks between doses.
It is most popular used as part of a maintenance program (MMT) for opiate addicts.

Hope that helps, and if you have more questions, check this out:

Hi..thanks for replying. I understand where your coming from... I'm the same way. I haven't even had one today.......

I'm not sure I would like methadone...I don't want a sedative....I wanna go up not down....but maybe that's my problem...

well if you want to go up, then why are you taking downers?
I think what you're trying to say is you like the more energetic forms of opiates, like oxy
I would recommend staying away from maintenance drugs altogethor(just my take). If you ever want to get off a maintenance drug(without following a specific taper plan), you're looking at A LONG withdrawal from methadone/suboxone. If you quit your oxys, you're looking at a 3-5 day withdrawal. Really a cake-walk IN COMPARISON to getting off methadone, which can prolong your withdrawal to a month or longer. It really is hell. I suggest staying away from the stuff.

I have never tried methadone, however nearly if not all reports I have heard and read regarding methadone report that it is a particularly sedating opioid, many saying significantly more than even morphine or heroin.

I have tried hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, methadone.......oxy is the most energetic out of those 4 I've tried & to be honest, I hate oxy because it makes me so irritable & energetic.......I like morphine the best because I prefer sedation but methadone is peculiar in its own way.

Methadone is very sedative (actually too much for me & I like sedation), so I definitely dont recommend methadone to anyone that's looking for an energetic high.

Also, like others have mentioned, it will raise your tolerance after you've taken it several times......& the high will last forever but be very careful as many people have overdosed on methadone isn't strong at the beginning, but the fact is it takes a while for it to kick in & slowly to peak.

Methadone IMO should be used by people that have abused harder opiates like opana, heroin, high tolerance of oxycodone, etc......

I tried out of curiosity but didn't care for it much so I haven't done it since......not my cup of tea.
