I'm in sydney for ~a week, help me out!

I actually know sydney quite well, my dad has lived here since I was a kid, but I've never had a chance to come here as an adult/as part of a non-family focused trip..


So I've never seen the nightlife, don't know the cool spots to hang out/visit during the day/etc.. any daytime cafes that do music/etc?

Anyone care to throw any tips/be sociable/etc?

Nightlife my background is raving.. not anymore tho really... I still like EM but I've slowed down alot/chilled out now.. (depressants are my kinda thing) So I'm into laid back places, outdoor, weird house parties/abandoned place parties if that kinda stuff happens here at all? Probably not. :P experimental/minimal/IDM/deep house/etc... I also get into jazzy bluesy kinda stuff and even a bit of regular old pop music if worst comes to worst :P

Also is there a kind of poor student/artist 'area' of the city that is populated during the days? I spose the city is ridiculous for poor people these days, but my parents is pretty rich so I'm staying right in it and its a pain to go out to the burbs. (dont know my way out there at all either)

Invite me to a crazy party or something, please.
BTW I'm a CWE addict.. anyone else into that from syd? Ive never known another one.

BTW I'm 24, but probably get on with people a bit younger better (although I spose everyone here is a bit like that).. I'm no wannabe homemaker. Drugs I interest in these days are opiates/benzos for the most part.

Ideas for stuff to do would be great, thanks... I've done all the tourist things a hundred times... OH and where do all the lonely girls hang out on weekends/nights/weekdays/etc? :P
 
Sorry i meant I'm "IN" sydney, now (Until next week thursday)

So far I've just been wandering around really.. Hanging out at the beach, in town.. nothing exciting. Parents are out west a bit (beyond richmond) but I don't particularly wanna spend too much time with them, already sick of it hah.

I'll go out this weekend and have some fun, Im a pretty independent person, doesnt really bother me bein out alone.. Is there any website/etc where I can find out what's going on/where? Perhaps scene websites/etc?

I am particularly into electronic music I guess - I can tolerate dubstep/hard dance, (used to be a hardkwar raver yknow.. lol) DNB/tech/prog, house/trance/even commercialish is ok.. what are the regular people popular spots? I notice theres this "Masif" party this weekend.. might check it out, altho hard dance not really my first choice.

I'm also into the kinda indie / indie electro type stuff

As far as live music, I like bluesy/funky/soulsy/rocky type stuff, all I would really avoid would be heavy rock/metal/etc, punk stuff (which I kinda like but do not go for the crowd type at all) or emo/hardcore/etc..

Also into a little aussie hiphop/US/UK, but not into 'gangster' shit.

I have some classy clothes with me so places that require to dressup shouldnt really be an issue, I do like a bit of class occasionally.. although I can never hold out at such a place all night once the drugs/drinks get going

I suggest checking out Good God - I was there the other night and it's hands down the best "club" I've been to in Sydney. I was there for a hip-hop gig but they seem to have a bit of varied stuff.

I've never been, but have heard good things about RedRattler

And, whilst I'm kinda proud to say I've never been here Home is the biggest club in the city and you might find something you like there :]
 
Home is alright I guess but personally dont like it. Space is pretty good most fridays has Hardcore and RNB
 
Hardcore & RnB? Lol... I know rnb has been sounding alot like happyhardcore these days but wtf!

Anyway unfortunately I had to spend the weekend chasing my demented grandmother who decided she didn't like being in hospital anymore.... ehhhh

Any nice places for early/mid week? I'm going to wollongong on thursday to hang out with a good mate of mine, will be partying there this weekend. anyone know the nightlife there?
