Benzos I'm going to jail for 5 to 7 days!!! Need help

Not to scare you, but every time I went to jail they didn't care that I was scripted benzos. I told the nurses every time and it never phased them. I don't know why they even bothered asking me what medications I was on. One of my visits while I was scripted 3mgs of Kpins a day but in jail I received nothing. I did have a seizure and no one cared. I was also drinking heavily so that probably made things worse. The other visits i was on lower doses and it was hell but i didn't die (obviously!) or have a seizure. This was in South Carolina in the US. Also, I was arrested and taken to jail, so I couldn't prepare. As others have mentioned, you may have some luck by consulting a lawyer and doctor before hand. Best of luck!!

I spent a day in county and the only reason I wasn't striped for the shoes and clothes on me was teaching some guys how to make hash oil, they sat on each side of me after dudes started getting hostile. The seating in processing is very limited and everyone wanted my seat. I didn't even have to talk back, those guys were pitbulls.

If I hadn't made friends with dudes outside my race I would have been in trouble.

I never seen someone who was in worst withdrawals and that was processing. Made me thank my luck stars that I was clean then.

I would suggest trying to quit now as it will only be better from now than the inevitable.

BTW- If you do decide to try and sneak some in make sure they don't have an x-ray machine and learn exactly how they search you in processing. The jail I was at is beyond hardcore, like medieval, but they had the tech to see if people were carrying shit up their asses. If you get them in do not tell a fucking soul, unless you want to have to watch your every move times ten.

Try and wean down as much as u can before u go in, then right before take a late dose. Not so much they're gonna know you're ur fucked up, but enough to hold u for longer. And def take the valiums instead of the ativand right before u go in, but not until then, use ur Ativan to taper down til ur court date. If you go in with a valid script of benzos sometimes they will give u a reduced dosage to help u taper down. Tell them you have a history of seizures in withdrawl.
Honestly your on such a small script I think you'll be totally fine going cold turkey, at the most just a little uncomfortable.
I got arrested on 4mg Kpin daily rx'ed ( for 3 years ) and a decent high quality heroin habit. They gave me 1mg Ativan twice a day for the first 3 days, then nothing. I lived. It was rough, but I've def. had worse kicks. I really think you'll be okay if you just take a few valiums right before u go into the jail, then just try n ride out the last few days. At least you know when you'll be getting out and have that to look forward to. Don't sneak anything in, it's totally not worth it. You'll be okay

In my County they put you on a rapid librium taper. Do not sneak anything in. Go see your doctor and get meds Rxd that you CAN take. Get clonidine and vistoril and possibly some neurontin. At night something like remeron or seroquel.

I was locked up last year, and I vividly remember wanting to do a backflip every time the nurse came in with 1200mg of neurontin for me.

In the UK if you test positive for benzo when coming into the jail they put you on a 7 day taper.

In my county in Pennsylvania if you tell them you are on any med at intake you have to sign a release and the jail will contact the pharmacy to see if you have a recently filled valid script. If you do, they provide the med for you (or as close as the formulary allows). They even dose methadone. Without a script you get basic wd meds for opiate or benzo wd--clonidine, Librium, Tylenol with codeine, etc

1mg of Ativan b.i.d is not enough to cause extreme withdrawal. If I were you:

• I would turn myself in. I'd rather spend 5-7 days in jail than developing an additional benzo dependence out of anxiety waiting for the statute of limitations to expire.
• Really? You're thinking of not turning yourself in? 5-7 days is fucking NOTHING. 1.9% of your year, .001% of an average lifespan. I don't care how "hardcore" LA county prison is. Legal rights exist and if you follow the rules, you'll get the opportunity to kick your benzo habit (which is a TERRIBLE solution to long-term anxiety₁), human to human interaction with those suffering from similar issues, exercise which is a (difficult) but optimal way for neurological repair, and maybe... JUST MAYBE you'll benefit...

As far as LA County goes, I've done time there, just don't tell anyone how short of a visit you're in for, would be my advice.
