I'm going to invent a new written language!!!

You haven't read up on any linguistics yet Mugz.

Honest, I'm not taking the piss, but if you're in ANY way serious about this, you need to understand basic linguistics.

The way you're going about this makes no sense.

I couldn't do a better job, and I've studied linguistics, but I wouldn't even dream of attempting it.
 
yeah, there is a lot for me to learn, but I have to start somewhere and I'm starting here right now, it's obviously going to develop and get better as time goes on and I learn more, amendments will most likely be made before the completion of the basics.

As I said before, it's just a hobby, and I'm attempting to just create something basic that a lot of things will be able to be expressed using at first, it isn't going to be a fully fledged language instantly, that will take years of work and small changes and some large changes, but everything has to start somewhere right???

It may make no sense yet, but that is because I have basically said I'm creating the alphabet but only given you the letters A and B to work with, of course it is not going to make sense yet.
 
Mugz, why don't you spend this time learning another language that is already in use by millions of people?
 
My bad, i've been away for a bit and only read the last couple of pages :D I don't get on well with Rosseta Stone, have you tried Michel Thomas? Some guy in hospital opposite me had managed to learn Spanish in the months he'd been in hospital with it.
 
:) sorry if my reply sounded abrupt, just got a bit tired of people trying to make me give up what is just a hobby.

Haven't tried Michel Thomas, will look it up and investigate. That's pretty impressive to learn spanish decently in a few months, although I guess that is all he had to do with his time so put a lot of hours into it.

He only did it for 30-60 minutes most nights to get upto a decent level of fluency! It's a bit of a nightmare even trying to read a book on a ward, let alone learn a language. My wife learnt Spanish from scratch by listening to it on her way to work every day for a few months - although I think it would take her another month of living in a Spanish speaking location to become comfortable and able to converse on a wide range of topics. I started the Spanish tapes but I can't roll my tongue, so I presumed I sound like someone with a lisp to them and gave up :D:D I was making a start on the German CDs, and I was doing really well though.

Your statement makes no sense to me, but thats OK cos I'm not looking for clarification.

I was making a mild comment on the fact people use words like 'obviously' when theres nothing obvious about it. Also the words 'of course' when there is nothing to be taken for granted.

The fact you chose to merge my posts and add your edit, rather than delete them and PM me would suggest you're the passive aggressive one. Maybe if I had made my comments in a pretty purple colour my comments would have gone unnoticed.
 
I suspect your comments were merged because they were made 1 minute apart, and they were sarcastic and you didn't explain them in the original posts, just assumed we knew what you were going on about. Why make a mild comment that appeared sarcastic or passively aggressive when you could have expanded on it???

Because I couldn't be arsed.

I've trolled your thread for long enough now, apologies. I totally misjudged things. I thought this was a lighthearted thread, I didn't realise you're actually serious about inventing a language with these symbols. Good luck with that.
