I have taken antipsychotics of some kind since the 1970s and it is time that I try to live without them. Presently I take 3mg of Vraylar, I've cut down to one capsule every other day. I''l try this for a month, then a capsule every two days. I researched alternative treatment for schizoaffective depressive disorder using vitamins and supplements so that's what I am doing.

Nice, is this doctor recommended? The taper schedule you have seems very reasonable though in my opinion.

I did the same, came of vraylar. And I use Seroquel as needed.

Curious what vitamins/ supplements? Might help me and others

Met with Dr yesterday, going to taper off to 1.6 mg every other day and stop taking after a month. Also got a lead on a holistic homeopathic professional doctor in the same area I plan to pursue. According to the internet Vitamins b12, b6, I just use B Complex, Zinc, Digestion vitamin for gut health, Omega 3-6-9, Melatonin...I also take Doctor's Best double strength SAM-e for mood, liver, joint and cognition support.

I was wrongly prescribed Olanzapine two years ago and it played hell with my liver and weight. When I stopped taking it my health improved especially my liver! So good on you for wanting to stop, I've always been critical of Antipsychotics simply because of their wide array of side-effects.

I have gone 4 days without Vraylar. I didn't sleep last night, feel groggy with a headache and body aches this morning. Will try to take a nap later today. Going to the senior center this morning then get groceries.

My sleep has been wonky as well. Might just be the season depending on where you live, but definitely shouldn't discount the possible effect of being off the antipsychotic.

Was last night the first night you didn't get sleep?

Last night was the night I slept all the way through. I did not take my usual dextramphetmine medicine so I would be extra tired.
In the mean time, I may have contracted Covid over the weekend, coughing, sore throat, headaches etc Sunday, Monday Tuesday night. The headaches are the worse which are both associated with withdrawal and Covid.
This morning headaches, coughing, runny nose and sore throat. No need to go to doctor, just let it run it's course.

I noticed it is hitting really bad right now. We have to fight this off.

I don't know if I have it. But I feel really bad right now.

Please keep getting Better @M!$TER-ED . Keep fighting the good fight. We will.

Keep staying Strong @M!$TER-ED It's going to be the toughest Win ever. We have to !!

You can do this.

Feeling much better now that cold / Covid symptoms have subsided. I was not tested for Covid so I cannot say I had Covid without proof. Wife has scratchy throat now. I think I'm past withdrawal symptoms, although still tired and can't spend much time on computer without headache.

Life is most miraculous, body and mind heals itself with no apparent effort on our part, it just happens that way.

my friend also quit recently a bunch of psychiatric medications and told feeling much better.

Wish you easy recovery and mental health! also, glad to have you in staff btw.

Still having sleep issues, Dr just prescribed doxepin another antidepressant, I was trying to get away from those

Last Sunday was day 2 of withdrawals, it was also the day I caught an upper respiratory infection. Thinking it might be Covid because of the headaches, coughing, sore throat and insomnia I felt like shit. I wasn't sleeping, my throat was raw, coughing non-stop and now I had an acute case of laryngitis to top it all off. I begged my primary physician to prescribe a different sleep medicine than what I was taking because clearly it wasn't working. He balked at first citing Vraylar withdrawal symptoms included insomnia. Well, that was no help, I finally convinced him the original prescribed medicine did not work well to begin with, so he prescribed Doxepin, a tricycle antidepressant that is sometimes used as a sleep aide.

Last night was the first I used Doxepin as a sleep aide. The results are mixed, I still woke up several times last night but was able to sleep until 5:00 am. I've been off of Vraylar now over a week but some withdrawal symptoms still remain. I still have laryngitis and my throat hurts but at least I was able to sleep more than I had the entire week before.

So far, no feelings of loss of control, confusion or outbursts associated with a need for antipsychotic medicine. I'm just very quiet, not able to speak because of sore throat and laringiits, I feel somewhat reserved which may be from the Doxepin. One step forward, three steps back will I ever have a life without psyche meds?
