I'm curious, they say benzos are good for opiate withdrawal, but..

What about the other way around? Opiates for benzo withdrawal? I never hear about people recommending opiates to help out during benzo withdrawal. Is there a reason for this? Are opiates not ideal for this situation? Any input would be great.

Well people probably don't recommend it as you don't wanna trade one addiction for another but as far as the shitty feeling, anxiety, and sleeplessness that comes with benzo WDs I imagine the opiates would relieve those but don't think it's gonna remove the seizure risk.

Opiate wthdrawal, while shitty, is rarely life threatening. You take benzos and other stuff to help with the symptoms of withdrawal. Benzo withdrawal, on the other hand, very well could kill you and no opiate is going to do shit if you are having a seizure. If you have a minor benzo habit, I imagine an opiate will at least give some comfort but you really cannot compare opiate to benzo withdrawal.

I was in no way comparing opiate withdrawal to benzo withdrawal. I was simply asking why it's not one of the main goto drugs to relieve the symptoms of benzo withdrawal. And I know it wouldn't help the seizure risk since it doesn't act on GABA. I was just curious

Opiates not only don't help the seizure risk but some opiates can in fact lower the seizure threshold. Now some such as Tramadol, Tapentadol, Meperidine/Pethidine are of course worse then others for lowering the seizure threshold but even the more traditional opiates such as Codeine, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Morphine, etc can lower the seizure threshold in some people hence why they are not recommended for benzo withdrawal or Alcohol withdrawal either for that matter.
