Heroin I'm confused about suboxone and heroin?

Okay so I'm a h heavy user. I'm trying to quit so last night I smoked and went to sleep. This morning 12 hours later I take a whole suboxone pill. My withdrawls don't go away at all. So I tried smoking 3 hours after the sub. It's not helping either. I just want to feel better, what can I do to feel better? Also why didn't the sub work?

You may have taken the sub too early after your last use, most doctors suggest a full day or at least 18 hours, so it may have sent you into precipitated withdrawal, then once you took the sub the bupernorphine binds so strongly to the opiate receptors that it acts as a blocker so you wont feel any opiates usually for about 24 hrs.

if he took it too early, i think he would have gone into full blown withdrawal...maybe your h use requires more than just one 8mg sub. and the reason smoking afterawards didn't help either was because bupe likes to stick to those receptors in some individuals. i'd try taking more bupe later on. if you waited 12 hours the first time, try waiting 16 or so. and try taking more than just one. people on here like to say that taking more than one is just crazy but my doctor put everyone on 24 mgs for their first 3 days on subs and i think it's for a reason.

Was it an eight mg tablet? How did you take it? There's not really enough information here to make anything but speculations.. IME, if eight mg won't take you out of withdrawals, no amount of buprenorphine will as its agonist effects plateau at a certain dosage which is probably below 8mg.. also, I'm just making a wild guess, but did you accidentally just swallow the suboxone? If so, that might explain a lot, as the oral absorption is absolutely horrendous. Suboxone should be taken sublingually upon induction, and once you have successfully transferred to the Bupe, you can then if you must, use another ROA such as plugging, if you want to get more bang for your buck..

Yes it was 8mg. No I did not swallow it. I've done this a lot when I first started and barely smoked. It used to work perfectly. So idk why it's not now. Also okay so if I can't take more subs what can I do to feel better

the ceiling effect is 32 mg...not below eight.

She* I'm a girl lol. Hmm even though I smoked about an hour ago should I take more subs right now

that might be the worst thing you could ever do and would most certainly put you in immediate withdrawal. wait AT LEAST 12 hours. i'd wait way more.

The ceiling effect is certainly not eight milligrams, it's just the highest dose prescribed. The only reason anyone would be on 32 mg would be to ensure that the buprenorphine would fully block any full agonist, and possibly because some people may metabolize suboxone too fast (and such a dose would ensure a constant state of buprenorphine was in the persons system), or perhaps for patients taking other medications that would cause an increased speed of suboxone elimination.

At 16mg/day, with chronic use, the actual amount of Bupe built up from the previous dosages is about 40mg, which is above the ceiling effect even if it was 32mg.. So raising the dose by 16mg would not increase any agonist effects.. It would just build up more buprenorphine in your body.

for the first three days of my suboxone treatment, i was prescribed 24mg a day. yes, this MAY be too much, but it looks like eight isn't working for the OP..she claims it used to work. her habit might have gotten worse and at the end of the day everyone is different too..

Yeah I think you may be right. Back then my habit was 1/6 what is now so would my need for a bigger dosage of suboxone go up? Also no one answered how to feel better

there really isn't much you can do. using while your receptor are saturated with bupe won't make you feel better and taking MORE bupe will most certainly make you feel horrendous...you have to just wait it out until you can either take more subs (preferable) or more dope. good luck with whatever you choose to do (:

i dont understand how you took the sub.... did you smoke it?

i also think that you did not wait long enough to take the sub. unfortunately, to feel better, you must feel pretty bad. at the moment, u can try taking more dope but all that will do is force you to wait longer to dose the sub.

feeling like shit is a huge part of being a junky.

so imo, wait about 18-24 hours to dose the bupe. if you got the pill, take it under the tongue. i like to crush it up before i put it there tho. good luck

my opinion i feel is almost fact, i dont care how hardcore of a heroin addict many people are, from shoting 2-3 bundles a day or more, i feel 4mg bupe sublingually will take awy physical withdrawl, if not all the ay, an 8mg sub WILL 100% kill all physical WD withdrawling from heroin, i dont care how big the habit

STOP TAKING MORE THEN LIKE 2mgs MAX of SUBOXONE PEOPLE!.. EVEN THE MOST SEVERE OPIATE ADDICT DON'T NEED MORE THEN 2mgs squirted up the nose! (or snorted if u got pills!) by god how dumb are u people?!! This info has been told over a billion times on BL!! AHHHH!H!H!!H!H! (lol, i give up...)

From my experience it's best to wait as long as possible before taking the suboxone and it will work exponentially better the longer you wait... for me it's best to wait as close to 48 hrs after my last dose of heroin as possible, though I know every hour past the 24 hr mark sucks!!!!

But the thing is if you said you did some smack after the suboxone because ti didn't take the withdrawals away you are in a sticky situation... you obviously didn't take the suboxone TOO-TOO early becasue if you did you would have gone through precipitated withdrawals and would be in hell and it sounds like you aren't... BUT if you take more suboxone right now after you just did some smack that is exactly what will happen.. and since you took 8mg suboxone pretty much doing any smack before waiting 24 hours is pointless (although 12 hrs I can feel it some... it's hardly at all worth it and is dangerous in the amounts needed)

ANYWAY so here's my point - if you took the suboxone, it didn't help and you did more smack to try and feel better and THAT didn't work you have two options... wait another 24+ hours after last dose of smack before dosing suboxone again as to make sure you don't go into precipitated withdrawals (preferably 48 hours) OR you can try to do more smack after 12 hours but be careful and don't do too much because you aren't going to feel it anywhere near as strong as you normally do

and to the guy saying don't take more then 2mg suboxone I don't think you've had as big of a habit as some of us cuz I know at my worst 2mg hardly does shit

hope this helps sorry it was so long of a post

Ive been on and off suboxone for over five years(off everything now)....Suboxone is a weird drug. In the beginning, I could take it before I even started getting sick and be fine. Over time, after going back and forth between sub and dope for so long, everything changed. even if I was 24+plus hours into withdrawal, it took the suboxone 2 1/2 days to start working completely. I was still sweating and unable to sleep. If you're using it to substitute for your DOC for a day or 2 and you happen to be one of those people that the sub takes a few days to actually work, you're better off going another route. As you mentioned, once you take that sub, you're stuck in buprenorphine limbo.....you can't feel the real opiates and the subs actually keeping you well. I've always found that if I stayed at 4 mils or under of sub, my usual shot of d would at least keep me well. You can cut through 4 if you use heroin IV, and the dopes good. To try to cut through with any opiate orally is a waste, in my opinion. If you're planning on going all the way with the sub, I would keep dosing 2 mg every 8 hours. Throwing a LOW dose of clonazepam on it seems to make the whole transition go smoother, but it's dangerous and not a doctor in the world would recommend it unless youre already scripted a low dose benzo. Of course, suboxone will never give you "the glow" we all know and love.

I regularly go from dope to suboxone on a week by week basis due to drug testing, I have heard lots about the process becoming harder for others that have tried to do the same, but the process is exactly the same each time. Subs are all about timing - get it right and they work perfectly, get it wrong and your in hell. If I were the OP I would wait 12hrs and then re dose suboxone, I know when I first got a script 8mgs was needed to hold me, so the guy saying no more than 2 i dunno what your habit was like but that truly would have done nothing to help me.
