I'm a trained Fitness Instructor, any questions on exercise or simple nutrition? :)

Yeah, i found it. Hilarious how the guys wang kinda just, pokes through his pants. Why should another guy care, I dont know.

update:i can already see a difference in my biceps and chest... its cool :D

I have no idea who merged this thread, or why.

But..Do you do pullups? That'll help with your back and biceps and shoulders.

If you don't have a pullup bar. You can half ass them on your door. Open the door and put a towel or something over it so it doesn't cut your hands. And pull yourself up.

if you can't pull yourself up at first. Jump up to the top of the door and hold yourself in that "up" position as long as you can. It'll strengthen the muscles and eventually you can do pull-ups.

If you do have a bar, do pull-ups, and curl-ups. They really help.

The most difficult part of doing unweighted squats is trying to maintain a straight back. Do wall squats and/or weighted squats to see how important keeping back form is to this exercise.

For the make-shift pullups make sure your not too much of a lard-ass and are using a sturdy door, you don't wanna pull your door off the hinges.

hahaha P-mo is right.

But cyrus is 140 pounds ;). he doesn't have much to worry about. I'm 170 and my door easily supports me You may want to check the hinges on it by putting your weight on the door and pulling down. If it moves at all, your door isn't safe to use. And if you still live with your parents....they probably won't like you breaking the house.

Ya Im only 150 and my doors creak when I try- so I dont anymore. But I guess the doors in my place are like 50+ years old.

i could sneeze on my door and have it crumble into dust.

these apartments i live in are straight out of jonny the homicidal maniac. ah well, i have twice the reason now to get bigger. ugh.. some people just need an ass beating, but i still gotta get in shape.

squats dont feel right when i do them on phonebooks, they always start to slip away. i need to find someone with a personal gym in thier home. :D

on a note : the veins in my arms have been "popping out", more visible so to say, is this good?

yes...better blood flow.

I wouldn't use paperback phone books. as you said, they slip too easily. You can do squats on the floor. And you can do calve raises on the floor, you don't need books.

Keep up the good work man.

Yeah- why again are you doing squats on phone books? doesnt make sense to me. Calf raises- yeah....

Anyways try and get yourself a gym membership: they're not THAT expensive...

If i had a job i'd go out and do such a thing. :D
Not sure where I heard this, but doing squats on a phone book adds resistance to when you squat, its like adding the weight your pushing against the floor to... or something. Okay, its probably really stupid and i'll stop.

I still laugh everytime i see that guys pants in 8 minute abs.

hahaha I have no idea why he's wearing those tight ass spandex. Loose shorts work just fine for me =D

oh, can you actually do the entire 8 minutes yet? if so you may want to up the intensity some.

im still burned out after the routine. by the time we start doing those wierd "im sitting on a chair while its upside down in the air!" things, i really feel the need to just fall down

Hey Caveman, (or anyone else who wants to weigh in),

I've been doing a program of situps/crunches/pushups/squats every morning for a while now. I do them in sets: at the moment it's 40, 30, 20, 10 =100 of situps and squats, and 50, 40, 30, 20, 10 for crunches.
I'm only doing about 50 pushups at the moment (and only 10 at a time) because i've recently gained about 5 kilos and lost a bit of upper body muscle condition, so the pushups have gotten harder.

My question: If i'm doing this 6 times a week, does this constitute 'overtraining' certain areas of the body? I'm asking because it seems the abs are getting easier, but the squats/pushups seem to be getting harder each time.

Thanks,

Bec.

I am a 5'8", 130 lb girl and i have a layer of i guess baby fat over my stomach. i have tried everything to get rid of it because i would LOVE to have a flat tummy! i am fairly active and go to the gym 2-4 times per week (stair climbing, biking and simple free weights plus 100 crunches w/ 10lb weights). i have had it all of my life, even when i was to skinny and hooked on diet pills. Any hints?

Trillian, maybe do the pushups and squats everyother day. Keep up the situps and crunches everyday.

dissapearing-girl, What does your diet look like? That's the main thing. But I don't know if this is true or not, but I've seemed to find that for some people no matter how hard they work out they'll never have those "perfect" abs. It's genetics also.

i dont have a real "diet". i watch what i eat, no fried/fast foods, low fats, not much dairy, not a lot of sugars.... pretty healthy for the most part.

damn genetics!! i blame them! my mom seems to have the same trouble now too, bu twhen she was younger she had a flat tummy. i can feel the mucsle under the layer of fat, i just can't get rid of it!! very frustrating
