In the Thin Lizzy track Jailbreak, Phil Lynott sings "Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak, somewhere in this town"

Somewhere? Fuck it, I'm going to go out on a limb here and put my money on it being at the jail.

And in the never-ending Lynyrd Skynyrd song Freebird, Ronnie Van Zant sang "If I leave here tomorrow, would you still remember me?"

Unless she's got Alzheimers, I'm going to say she probably would remember him the next day.

Anyone got any more?

Phil was a fucking legend too.

(Although he never lived down the road from me as far as I know)

RZA - He lived in the Whalley pub on the Moss Side / Whalley Range / OT border, where his mother was landlady! Believe it or not!

I used to live across the road. Weird area. The old Gooch estate was on the corner but it was a fairly calm place.

Hahaha.

This has the makings of a great thread. I can't think of anything worthwhile to contribute at the moment but I'll get back to you.

Really Sam? Never knew that

In that case, put that in your pipe and smoke it Brimz!!

Mr Lynott lived in Warwick rd , Newbridge Bath about 83, as you may know he was married to Leslie Crowthers Daughter , n MR Crowther would make appearances at Newbridge school , after Phills Death , i was apupil at said school .

Beyonce-Best thing I never had:
''You showed your ass and I, I saw the real you
Thank God you blew it, thank God I dodged the bullet''

I always get image in my head of someone with the shits showing his ass

I think Caroline had slung her hook from Phil by '83 tho hadn't she?

Something I found out the other day Romeo and the lonely girl is about Gary Moore (Romeo is an anagram of Moore..) I always wonder if "There were scars that he took.." was a reference to Moore's glassing. And "I remember Parris in '49" from Parisienne walkways is Phil's middle name (his dads name too) and Phil's birthdate. I've been checking out a lot of the Grand Slam stuff Phil did after Thunder and Lightning. I think Phil is one of the few hard rock singers who kept his voice right up to the end (Bon Scott is the other one). I think some of his best singing is on Thunder and Lightning. "Cold Sweat" is a stone cold masterpeice.

Yeah he wrote a couple of songs about his mothers hotel in manchester - really early songs. Apparantly Johnny the fox meets Jimmy the weed was about gangsters who used to hang out at the hotel.

Friend of a friend of mine is married to Phil Lynott's daughter. Weird thing for me is he's the only person I've met who looks like me (to me anyway)

Another tenuous Philo connection, his dealer, the one who done time for supplying him in his last days, used to live around the corner from me, I was friendly with his little brother, they were a prominent local business family.

I remember well the night in the pub when news came through that he was dead.
