I wouldn't turst Joe Shmoe I meet off the street because I don't know them and don't know if what they say is true, I trust those I know and those I know actually know what they are trying to talk about.
you are such a youngin'holva said:A lot of my old school friends argue that it was the 98 - 2003 party kids that ruined everything for everyone. I listened to that.
I don't think that the current "rave" generation is doing anywhere near as much damage as the generation before... of course the private land festies get pretty drugged up, but your average parties really aren't the crackhouses you all make them out to be (the scene is too dead to have that kind of insanity).
Either way, the hippies have a lot more drugs at their events, and the drugs are much more readily available (the last time I was offered drugs by a random person at a rave, it was a hippie). why are their events never shut down? because rock music and bluegrass are acceptable. once electronic music reaches that same point we won't have as many problems imo.
wasn't that thrown by someone from the 98-01 scene?GeeksterGN said:wasnt there an OD at the NYE party in cincy?

I have yet to see any.Geek said:wasnt UGS3 all over the local media for the tons of drugs there?
Ok, so just because I'm young that makes me a drug head? Are you just assuming that everyone who is from the 03 - present scene is on drugs? Sure I smoke the herb and trip on the rare occasion (and I know of a few people on this board that you are friends with who I've seen at EVENTS tripping on acid) but I'm not an etarded "lets go to a party and see how many drugs we can find" rolley polley.Geek said:yea, the massives of 98 - 01 blew the lid off of drug use at raves, but you lil motherfuckers have yet to learn from it. you think that bc the scene is small again that no one notices.
Yah, but thats because most jam shows are in bars. As soon as it becomes all ages shows become flooded with underage custies - way more then we have. Believe me man, I throw jam shows with Music Cures All, a local charity ran by my friends.geek said:the huge difference between the rave scene and jam rock shit is the age of the attendees. from firsthand experience, i will say that the rave attendees are usually a few years younger than the kids that attend jam rock shows.
Go to Hookahville (two people died this year). Go to Bonaroo (someone died there as well). Go to Terrapin Hill, Greatful Fest, SchwagStock, Big Summer Classic, Appalachian Uprising, Cavestock (two people were stabbed)... they'll all have WAY, WAY, WAY more drugs available and way, way, way more kids in the 14 - 18 year old demographic then your average rave. Still, where is the crackdown?Geek said:the persecution of raves has very little to do w/ the music. the persecution of raves comes from the perception that the only reason why kids attend them is to do drugs which is rampantly supported by the things idiots on this board tend to say.
Geek said:with dipshits like Delta-9 giving us a run down of what they sold, bought, or bunked, is it really that hard to see why the authorities want to keep kids away from the drugs available at rave?
I don't know how many people over the age of 18 really have to worry about their parents. The majority of events are strictly enforced 18+ or 21+. Maybe its guys like you posting about how our scene is infested with drugged out children that make our scene look bad? Either way, i've been to probably only 3 all ages parties in the since January... there really aren't all that many (at least not worth going to.)geek said:when parents hear that their kids are on drugs, they freak out and create what is known as a moral panic. that panic isnt related to the music. that panic is related to the concern these parents have for the safety of their kids.
Well, considering that the drugs AREN'T going to go away, maybe we should do what the hippies do and actually take a political position. Oh no, that would be way to much work. Fuck it, lets bitch at kids on board, that'll really help 8(geek said:quit fucking trying to justify yourselves, and just clean up your act.
