you're a complete moron if you think that that was hhc.

was it uk hardcore?
i've been doing research into the evolution of hhc, and what it has turned into is much better then what it was circa 99-02.. much higher production values, it lost the sickly sweetness but maintained the positive vibe, and became a little more structured like proggy trance.

of course that is just my interpretation.
i'm curious about yours, seeing as you are more familiar with the newer xxx-core than i am.

no, doormouse makes breakcore which is an experimental genre and completely unrelated to uk hardcore. IMO 90% of all uk hardcore made after 1994 is complete rave-pop garbage because thats when it all started becoming hhc. before then it was mostly breakbeat hardcore, but then bbhc split into hhc and dnb. bbhc and breakcore aren't really related either except in the sense that a lot of dnb producers are starting to imitate breakcore and dnb comes from bbhc.

as far as the production value being better, sure, but thats because the equipment is better. as far as creativity goes most new uk hardcore tracks are just epic trance rip-offs sped up to 180 bpm with an occasional dnb breakdown. of course there is still a lot of really good bbhc being made by guys like panacea, but its not hhc at all.

I remember about 8 years ago when I was really into Euro Hi-NRG... DJ LMNTS ftw!! Yikes...what became of him I wonder?

Yeah Uberzone was fuckin crazy. My favs were Uberzone, Skylab 2000k, Tom Foolery, and Unkl Ryan. They all tore that shit up but hell I enjoyed it all pretty much. The vibe going around that place was insane.

Woo Hoo.Catalytic Souljas.Do we know how to throw a fucking party or what?
Let me see the whole fucking weekend rocked my socks.

Dervish tore it up friday night on the mainstage.Loves it loves it!I also checked out Heavyweight Zounds at the Outlawed tent.Fuck ya!We were concerned that Uberzone wouldn't make it,but they showed up for soundcheck.Skylab kicked ass.Overall Friday night was solid. All my other catalytic souljas played like Tom Foolery,Andy B and Unkl Ryan(I already mentioned Dervish)Elephantronic played a great set as well.We finally went and got a few hours of sleep and came back.Saturday nights music fucking rocked owned.Reid Speed is fucking hot.Her and Keith Mckenzie threw down man.I thought doormouse was fucking sick.Although he puts on a better show when he is mad and he was in a very good mood that night.Aphrodite was awesome playing some old shit to make me jump up and dance the night away.I liked both fugees remixes he did as well.Funk was fun playing the OLD SCHOOL CLASSICS.I made him sign my boob.Factor-e was solid and it was a bonus when he let Dervish tag a few songs with him.Over all this party was awesome. Not everyone there is about the drugs.I think it went well.I can't wait until September for Cavestock!

Love and Light

Hey I haven't been to any of the Cavestocks yet and was wondering is it one that is mostly Jam Bands with a EDM stage down the hill like it was at 4/20?

I got pics, but I haven't bothered to put them on the 'puter yet because I have to show them to a friend who wasn't able to get off work to come.

That's also when my review will be up, putting it in my journal now and it's already 3 pages long (only have done for Friday).

Well my local news just had a story on about it saying 4 kids from northern IL got arrested with LSD and some other stuff. I looked for the story on their webpage but couldn't find it. I think the security was alot tighter then last year.
These arrests were not made at the cave.
Thats about all the negative they could dig up on the show.

There were several of us who stated we were not going to this because we thought it qould be like that. We were then blasted for being "haters" and such. I'd like to take the opportunity to say I TOLD YOU SO :p and yes you're right it makes all of us look bad. I have to watch how I word what I do as a dj, if I mention that I play at raves I get looked down upon by elders, and it's all thanks to events/situations like this. Pardon me if I'm a bit jaded.

Well perhaps if people like you would stick around and try to set an example and tell kids that is not the way to do things. If the older people don't stick around and try to offer some guidance to the younger once then they will turn it into just what it is portrayed as in the media.

I must admit that this year they did much better on keeping them clean. I didn't see any get overflowed with crap like I did last year both at UGS and CaveFest (or leave trails of shit when the clean van came around like this year's CaveFest). So for a change I actually used them because they weren't nasty.

But I don't know why, the urge to take a shit while I'm at the cave never seems to exist. As soon as I leave the first toilet I see is used.

I guess I can't shit in porta potties.

Yes I know we have the worst portapottie service i have ever seen. We pay out top dollar for those old run down things and pay for them to be cleaned regularly. I am searching for another portapottie company that will service this area. Hopefully I will find something. Apologies for this aspect. We are doing our best to come up with a better service.
Tom

well perhaps if you booked a more diverse and interesting lineup, or some of us geezers even, we could come and set an example. As a working adult, I can't afford to take a weekend off, drive 4 hrs, pay whatever to get in, buy camping supplies. If there was something interesting to draw me, I would've been there to support and yell at the rollie-pollies, LOL. The lineup for this year was kinda boring to me and most of my friends. I appreciate what you're doing, keep it up, good luck with the "kids"

Hey tom either way things go your doing a fuckin great job and I hope you keep it up. Also you tore it up friday night man. Much love to the whole Catalytic Souls crew.

there are plenty of "geezers" that play at the cave, just not many from indy.

when have 'younger kids' ever listened to 'older kids'...?

when did YOU ever listen to an older kid when you were a younger kid?

and i don't mean 'duck, dude -- that building is about to fall on top of you!' sort of listening...

generation after generation after generation, the youth never listens to those that came before them... that's why the same mistakes are made over and over and over again.

I've listened to people I trust (key word there) who are older than me ranging from a few years to 40 years. The point is I trust them. I wouldn't turst Joe Shmoe I meet off the street because I don't know them and don't know if what they say is true, I trust those I know and those I know actually know what they are trying to talk about.
