IL, Murphysboro - 06.30-7.2.06- UnderGroundSound *REVIEW*

Fucking amazing party!!!! Its hard to even talk about it was so great. The Spoololife stage was off the hook, had fun playing on it. My favorite "stage" had to of been the little booth set up by Alex Pi and his buddies near the vendors, they rocked a crowd of 5 like I've never seen before. Benji was off the hook as usual, and Infected Mushroom had to of been the single best live act I have ever seen. I can't wait for next year!

he is an amazing act. I would have gone to this party instead of Freedom Fest, I only really wanted to see John B - but I got to see him a couple days before in Columbus. plus FF was closer and I liked the lineup a little more.

sounds like ya'll had a great time, I'll most likely be there next year ;)
 
John B is a fucking joke. Not only is he a shitty DJ, but hes a shitty producer now. His old shit was great, but now hes this dumb DnB pop star who writes garbage like "I'm Stalking You On Myspace" and "American Girls". What a sell out. And he sucked at MWFF.

it's really difficult to describe the experience. I guess i will say that it was enlightening and inspiring.

I can think of no other place i would've been.

Serendipty and I had a vlast spinning -- and Electric Skychurch was so.... UH! man! ... amazing.

i won't forget this weekend for a long time.

I have several of his mixes (live and studio) and am baffled as to why you'd say he's a shitty DJ. Granted, I really wish he would still spin vinyl, but such is the case with most of the UK headliners these days.

john b and IM blew my fucking mind....if any of you saw a guy wandering around in a dze with an orange tie dye shirt the second night,and green tie dye pants the first night,that was me. lincoln nebraska repped it full fucking force! big ups to high lucy nation for putting together the charter bus,and big fucking ups to everyone i talked to,altho i dont remember any of you lol...ill have pics up as soon as i get them developed and scanned. much love to the wicked folks.....its no secret anymore that these parties make bonaroo and wakarusa look like shit.

all i can say is it was wonderful as in I was full of wonder and everyone else seemed to be as well. This is my first time going to this event and i have to say I loved it. It is a new benchmark in the culture of EDM - a new point in the evolution of musical events - the reinvention of a progressive Social interaction that began in the 60s. There is too much to describe here ! In short- its good for the hearts & minds of all ravers - therefore good for the health of the scene all together -
! - everyone was SO NICE !
! - the attitudes of everyone there sparked memories of past times in history and gave birth to a NEW SENSE OF HOPE FOR RAVING AS WELL AS PEOPLE IN GENERAL
! - everyone was aware - aware - aware - . . . . . of how 2 party ! : ) !
! - the context there was one that i desire deeply and now miss greatly
! - BEST - VIBE - EVER - !!!!
! - Being a first timer to this festival I must say this was a learning experience and that in retrospect my entire time there was training exercise for my return to it next year

I think everyone experienced a journey into the mind, body and spirit. There are few places in the world that allow you to feel truely free, and the cave is definetly one of them. This was my second time there, and ariving there made me feel truely at home...

I MISS IT!!!!!

Oh, and if my mix was recorded, please don't post it. There were no booth monitors hooked up when I was playing, so it made it hard as hell to hear, and theres probably a few mistakes in it... so yah. But it was a good time all round'!
 
On and On

Well well well. Now that’s the feeling I’m talkin’ bout…. SPIRITUAL BLISS. We arrived quite early…. I think the first… nearly… @ 6-7am on Friday. Sea Monkey I believe hit the zone first... then a steady trickle of crew. I of course… was running a bit behind… but only by a couple hours.

We worked hard getting set up, Mas had the fever something fierce. aDJalso swooped in with the rental right behind me. We had worked on the concept for the stage some time… which was easy enough…. The manifestation …. Only time would tell.

I was extremely anxious to get set up… too anxious perhaps.... asking Sea Monkey “Are you ready to unload the car?” his reply was something along the lines of “Um.. after I set up my tent and eat.” In my head I was like “Chill out Jimmi, at least wait for everyone to get settled in before you become a bossy prick”. Cause… well… I had the fever too. … in combination with the usual lack of sleep and other metabolic necessities.

Everything came together nicely, the sound had impressive fidelity, the lights and lazer were just enough to set a vibrant mood, and everyones set was lively. We had numerous compliments on our stage from the music, sound, lights, and even the aesthetic appeal.

I couldn’t imagine working with better peeps on a project such as this, peeps like Mason, MD, Sea Monkey, aDJalso, blinkerbeaker, Jack Herrer, AC Select Jus to Name a few… and of course the female counterparts of the prementioned…. It’s always nice for the gals to come out and support their men… it really goes a long way.

It was truly a Village… as everyones contributions yielded the end result.

It was nice to be at the venue early, as we witnessed the masses of ravers and EDM advocates beginning to fester… it didn’t take long long for the first thousand to manifest, and only a few hours for the next thousand to arrive. And then came the charter busses and what not… unloading more.

The primary stage was just sick. I came down that hill at night… as I was glued to our stage for most of the day…. But when I walked down the hill… that shit felt like the matrix cave rave…. As the hills low pass filtered the sound until you came around the corner… then WHAM…. Literally an ocean of peeps…. Anaphase’s large screens rockin out the visuals, crazy ill lasers, screams from every direction, just about every make and model of glo toy you could imagine, and just the most colorful people I’ve seen.

Just thick with culture…. It was it’s own community…. With it’s own micro economy. And here’s the thing…. It was hotter than a bitch out there…. I thought I might have seen a tumbleweed blow by at one point….. None the less…. Yeah…. Not even the heat could fade us…. Nothing was stoppin this one.

A special thanks to Tom and the Catalyticsouls family for inviting us to this spiritual occasion. Thanks as well to our friends from the many other production companies and crews as well. Also, a special thanks to SpaceHead, for the first class hospitality.
But most of all…. Thank you…. All the people….. the many many colorful people who support EDM day after day…. It’s ALL 4 YOU!

i don't think i've ever seen so many ravers in full effect at one time - very nice (kinda freaky/scary/strange, but definitly nice).
