Dude, Paladan is lame. I saw him in New Albany a couple weeks ago and he's just a total gimmick. I actually enjoyed the first 20 minutes of his set as it was kind of dark and sci-fi-ish and though I don't particularly listen to trance much anymore it wasn't all that bad to hear.
On the other hand, I lost all respect for him when I very first saw him. He was dressed in some crazy ass storm trooper outfit with lights and lasers and walked out in the crowd during Hive's set (which blew his out of the water by the way) waving this green flashlight over the crowd. ALL WHILE HIVE IS STILL SPINNING. How are you gonna walk out in the middle of the other headliner's set and completely shift the focus toward you? He should be able to just bring a crate of records, throw down a good set, and chill with the partygoers like the rest of the DJs did. Hive was up in the bar chillin with people. Even Icey came upstairs at headliners and chopped up a conversation with me. That's social partygoing DJs that are in it for the music and not the money.
And I know from talking to some of the promoters/staff that Paladan will not be coming back to the Louisville/Indy are for a very long time. He broke one of his needles and we had to compensate for it by using some of our equipment. The headphones that are built in to his lame ass storm trooper outfit went out so we had to ghetto rig some sony's that he could throw on there.
Now correct me if I'm wrong but if you're a highly known highly paid DJ that plays music as a career, should you not bring top quality industry standard equipment with you? And even if that fails surely you could have a backup. I know if I had the money and fame like he did I would definitely look into all of those as possibilities because you have to consider technical failure as a possibility before performing a show.
Anyways. I'm real bummed that I'm not gonna get to see Infekted Mushroom friday, because we'll still be on the road or in a hotel. That's really lame because I KNOW they will put on an amazing show. It's good to see some psytrance in the midwest.
Regardless I'm still counting down the days till this event as it's gonna blow me away... John B, Monk, Agent K, Factor-E. This is truely gonna be a cornocopia of good music.
But if Paladan walks around the cave in his fucking storm trooper outfit during another headliner's set, I WILL jump on him. So if you can read this Paladan, PREPARE YOURSELF, for me jumping on your back...
