if your out of PAXIL,ok to take ZOLOFT??

ok my mom is on PAXIL and she is out and asked me if she could take zoloft in replace of it??
can you?? if you can what would the dosage be

I do not recommend this. Even if you are switching between two SSRI's there is going to be a "washout period". You need to taper out the old and [then] gradually add the new. If Paxil works for your mother then she needs to stick with Paxil. If not, her doctor needs to switch her medications. Not her. If she has a regular prescription she can call the doctor and let them know she is out. They will most likely call in the prescription for her. She can also have the pharmacy call for her.

This is best discussed with her doctor then strangers online... there could be some complications - nothing life-thretening, but she might lapse into a nasty depression..
