if you quit for a long time, does weed still feel good?

i'm considering stopping daily use of weed. from what i can tell, after people quit and smoke again after being "dependent" (arguable i guess, though there has to be effects from receptor downregulation) they get anxiety/negative effects

if you've quit weed for a significant amount of time, * does weed still give a good time? * did you taper slow or stop abrupty? * how long until you smoked again? does it still have negative effects even after years of break? * how much did you smoke a day?

does the collective body of bluelight have any info on why cannabis would no longer feel good, and-or anything we could do to prevent such an unfortunate change in its effects? eventually i'd like to use 1-2x a week after my receptors seem fully back to normal

I'd like to co-sign on this thread because these are all questions I've been mulling over lately.

I've never halted use for more than a few months, but I never stopped loving it. Plus after a little time off starting up again you aren't quite used to it anymore so getting high is a real blast, at least in my experience. I guess you could say it's sort of like giving yourself a second first time. Of course I wouldn't stop just so I could get more out of it later, but if you do quit for any reason, then no worries, it still feels good. :)

am i gonna use that many exclamation marks when i quit then use again? :)
lol.

weed has always been a mild drug to me, and i have been an on again off again smoker a couple times for various reasons and it has been no issues.

never really noticed higher intensity after layoff or any negative effects. felt the same

I've quit for a few months for different reasons at one time or another with no issue whatsoever. No anxiety or anything except just wanting to smoke. And when you start again you love it so much because you missed it.

i gave up for 5 years... started again and it was awesome. then it became a bit shit

I've quit for up to half a year and each time it was great when I started again--very psychedelic even, but I had to make sure to smoke not very much at all compared to what I was used to, lest I give myself an anxiety attack.

one guess i have is that alot of them quit, then go back, and try and smoke as much as they did in their hay days, when less then .1 of good weed is all you need

yeh im a weekend warrior and iv stopped on various occasions for a month or so.. the first time i lit up it was mega anxious paranoia. Not panic attack material or anything like that, just being out in public was a little heavy.. but i was smoking with a mate (who i would usually) and i packed the bowl like i would normally.. Which wasnt a good idea.

I eased back into it at my own rate after that.. I can consistantly smoke the same amounts most weeks now, so i recommend the weekender lifestyle.. Mondays though, you just want to pop another cone if u havnt got anything on. You have to fight the urge afterwork. But by weds your feeling controlled again..

Yes if you quit for a long amount of time and then start smoking herb does feel good.

You also get high as shit especially if you get into vaporizing!

I have quit smoking herb for periods as long as 6-8 months and 2 years and then 5 years and when I started smoking or vaporizing herb again it was highly enjoyable.

This is coming from someone who used to get horrible anxiety and panic attacks daily when sober for a period of time.

Smoking or vaporizing herb daily or on weekends was a lot of fun when I was younger but it's not something I can really do anymore unless it's the summer.

I have friends that smoke herb or vaporize but only a few times a year or maybe once a year if that and they are more into drinking booze but still enjoy a smoke every now and then.

Personally I find that the more I smoke the less anxiety I get .

This Is probably because I'm more used to the high , which allows me to control thoughts , etc.

When I took a break Last year (for 2months) and lit up again after that I got crazy paranoia and anxiety and the only way to get rid of it was to smoke more and get used to the marijuana high once again .

You will most likely still enjoy smoking weed, but it is possible you will no longer see the need for using it as much and so you stop smoking it as often or at all. Kinda like you spent six months without it or so and no longer see it being a requirement in your life.

like ikkyu said, beginning again after long bouts of no smoking can be near anxiety inducing, and borderline psychedelic. Definitely make sure you dont smoke at the same level as previous, unless you just f()(king love it like most people on this thread. Sit down and enjoy it.

weed is not actually addictive... just go cold turkey. i find i have to take at least a 2 week break for tolerance to reset

when my tolerance resets weed is and amazing experience. i get OEV's and CEV's and my whole body tingles and i feel like im inside an orgasm. i trip more than when i do shrooms

^ soo true .

Even a week break for me can reduce my tolerance by a considerable amount . During that week I try and do alot of excersise, sit in my sauna more than usual, drink alot of water and eat/drink things high in antioxidants (green tea , acai , etc)

but some people do have dependence which means if you decide to go cold turkey you will get extremley irritable , loose appetite, etc
one plus of going cold turkey is that you get the most intensssseee dreams which I just adore :-O
