I assume none of us know each other, so we can be frank I guess. When I was 20 (I'm 54 now) I was hitching around Australia and was in Adelaide for a few months, staying with some lovely people who put me up rent free for a few weeks. I was totally skint and did not have a job either. One day, I was just leaving the house with a lovely young lady called Annabelle in her car when I said hang on, I've left something back in the house. I went straight around the house upstairs and down, and took different people's money from their drawers and left cupboards open and stuff spilled out all over the place, making it look like somebody had got in and ransacked the place. It took me just over a minute to complete this horrible deed and get back in the car and drive off for the afternoon. We got back in the evening and two lads in particular Kevin and Dave were really upset as it was their weeks wages that I'd stolen. I acted all innocent and shocked and got away scott free. But my expertly staged break-in still visits me in my mind from time to time - to think that I was capable of doing that - and to do it to people who had been so kind to me. I wish I could find those guys and say sorry and pay them back the money with interest and take them out for a meal or something as some kind of an apology.
