Lysergamides If you could get back to the first time you tried LSD knowing what you already know… How would you do your first time? Dosage? Setting?

Hi all!

I’ve been experimenting with Tryptamines for a while now, and I’m a regular Cannabis user, but at my 45yo, I have not tried yet LSD. I recently got some 1V-LSD 150mcg blotters and probably next week I’ll schedule a perfect day to have my first experience.

I know that first time experiences with new substances can be magic if you have enough background, and I would like to ask to those who are really experienced with LSD: If you could get back to the first time you tried LSD knowing what you already know… How would you do your first time? Dosage? Setting?

I love to introspect and meditate on tryptamines, also love to do it in the beach. Maybe is better to stay at my mans cave in the dark with nice music, just diving in my mind…. Or go to the beach and meditate in contact with nature.

Sure I can use your experience to make a great first experience with LSD, thanks everybody in advance!

My first proper foray into LSD was my first time on a psychedelic as well. I don't think I'd change much really, maybe just the time I took it. I took ~100ug at 4pm, watched Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia until I came up then went for a bike ride, by the time I got out there it was getting dark and I didn't fancy tripping in the woods while I rode back so it was a short ride. Since then I've dropped the LSD around 10am or earlier so I can get a good ride in and sleep at a reasonable hour.

If you're comfortable on tryptamines like Psilocybin then I don't think you will find LSD any harder going. If you know what you enjoy on the psychedelics you have taken in the past then do the same on LSD, what better way to feel the difference between the substances and have a good time?

I have no idea about 1V-LSD so am just basing this on LSD-25

I can't actually remember my first acid trip, but if I was going to advise someone like you (already an experienced tripper, albeit not with lsd) about set/setting for a frst acid trip, it would be someything like:

'Set' - when you're feeeling mentally calm and have no major issues bothering you. It's ok (normal even) to have a little anxiety directly concerning the trip you're about to take

'Setting' - Super familar, controllable (phones off, doors locked etc) to ensure undisturbed. Access to cold water, whatever (non-alcoholic) drinks you fancy, also to some light food (fruit is usually a winner). Access to whatever music you enjoy in the psychedelic headspace. A space you can have dimly lit if you so choose. So - I'd be advising your mancave as opposed to the beach, certainly for a first time

Dose - for a complete psyche novice, 100ug lsd. For you, experienced with tryptamines, I'd be saying perhaps150ug (certainly no more than that, 125 may do nicely). That is for lsd-25 remember. Also bear in mind that a lot of blotters contain far less lsd than the sellers claim, my dosing suggestions are for genuinely dosed blotters (rare, but definitely availalble for those who know)

Many people would suggest having a benzo on hand to stop (or diminish anyway) the trip should it turn on you. I'll just say that I've had plenty of high-ish dose trips (shrooms, dmt and lsd) and although I've experienced some uncomfortable periods in these trips, I'm glad that I never 'aborted' any of them as the learning from an uncomfortable experience can be immense. Also, any periods of discomfort tend are usually just passing phases in the experience, and can often be dealt with just by changing the music, going into the garded, chatting with an animal...just changing the environment slightly really

First time I did acid I was walking threw the woods. It was such a great experience that I started to take it almost every other day for three years. And listening to music on it just blasts you into a whole other place. I love riding music, but for people who havn't done acid they don't know what the hell I'm talking about. In my opinion everyone should try acid at least once.

First time I did LSD, I felt like talking to an extraterrestrial beings as if they’re giving me some wisdom. The visuals were intense. I felt like a portal was opening on my door (something spinning around my room door). Then I took a benzo trip killer immediately. Next time two times I did it with a benzo and forth time I did without benzos and gave in and it was amazing
I’ve taken them a lot of times without trip killers ever since.

Honestly I couldn't have gotten luckier than the people and the setup I had for my first time. Two women, one of whom was an ayahuasca shaman and the other was a wiccan. Nothing ritualistic was happening, they were just extremely cool people who really understood how to do things properly. Their home was decked out with crystals, candles, cool art, singing bowls, tarot cards, and the musical choices were also great. The whole thing was like hippie meets shaman meets magic hut. There was so much to see and do, and talk about. I also did a fairly high dose because those were my "go big or go home" days. It was a full moon and a clear sky, and their home was the penthouse. So we went out onto the roof and looked out over the city, the trees everywhere, and of course the moon itself... which fractals into a violet lotus when you're on LSD, which I just loved.

That was a very special time in my life. I did acid many times there. And like any special time period, it wasn't destined to last. They stopped being roommates, developers bought the building, and both of them moved away. But those days changed the course of my life forever and were the best days of my life. Not just because of the drugs but because of all the things going on in my life at that time. My consciousness went through more than one huge paradigm shift. It was a time of great realization and set the stage for all the near death experiences I would start having in the coming years due to illness. There was SO MUCH magic and high vibes, basically every day of my life was extraordinary. I thought it would last forever.

LSD really is the best drug... but I will never be able to recapture those peak experiences. My body is different now, and I don't have access to an environment or people remotely close to the vibe of that time. I feel like if I did LSD now I would just have a major freakout because of how shyte and mundane everything has become.

Thanks for the detailed post! I wanted to take some time to write a good answer.

I totally agree what you say. I’ve done 6 experiments with 4-HO-MET / 4-HO-MiPT (and two with truffles, very mild). I’ve done 40mg in my last ones, and the effects were totally manageable, indeed, I had to use some cannabis to go in a deeper headspace state and introspect / meditate.

Guess I experienced some ego dissolution with these 40mg of 4-HO-MET and 0.5g of Cannabis. Great visuals, my mind was totally kidnapped by the music in a very good way and got very nice insights about my life, lovely experiences. Very vivid memories, I could totally see who I was from a third person point of view and see how my ego has been constructed, and that I was not really that sum of thoughts and mind constructs.

I started my way as a psychonaut with these substances since they are supposed to be nice and manageable substances as an introduction to psychedelics, and I really think they are.

Now I guess I’m ready for the next step, and LSD was always my main goal. I’m a musician and also work in music related business, so the LSD is something I’ve always been curious about, but also like a door I was afraid to cross, but now I feel like I’m ready.

I’ve reading a lot about LSD, tripping…. McKenna, Huxley, Fadiman, Leary… I’ve been introspecting and meditating on cannabis since 7 years ago, I guess I’m used to dive into my mind and “sail away”. I’m totally aware of how important set and setting are, maybe even more than the dosage and substance.

I’ve learned that your mental setting is gonna probably make you trip to places related to that mind state, how if, you have something to deal with in your mind, you’ll probably be taken to deal with it. I also have learned how to change the flow of thoughts and the mind trip direction when it is going to places I don’t really enjoy going too, but I’ve also have learned to let go and think “this is just an experience, live it and learn from it, everything is gonna be OK”.

About setting, I have my own man cave with total privacy, nice relaxing chair, stereo equipment, a cinema where I can watch movies or live concerts (which I love when high on cannabis) turn on nice multicolor lights or be in total darkness as I prefer, play videogames… A place where I feel totally safe and relaxed, and where I can disconnect from the outside world. If I feel like, I can grab a towel and be in the beach in 5 minutes walking. I’ve had great experiences with tryptamines on the beach, so if I feel like I’m comfortable going outside, maybe I’ll go to the beach and meditate.

So, I guess I’m ready for LSD. My first thoughts, as I’ve always done when approaching a new substance, is doing a first attempt with half the common dose. But I want to do it differently with LSD and try the full common dose, since I already have some experiences with psychedelics and I want to relax and enjoy a full first LSD experience.

I’ll do 150mcg of 1V-LSD, which is equivalent to 120mcg of regular LSD 25. Guess is still a “safe” dose, not too big,but probably enough to have a good experience. I’m not very reactive to tryptamines, I’ve always had to use cannabis to potentiate the effects. If I feel the same with LSD and I’m not having big effects 2/3 hours after onset, I’ll have some cannabis ready to experiment with, always slowly and measuring the effects of each draw from my vape.

I love visuals, euphoria, etc…. But what I like the most is researching my own mind, my consciousness and try to find out what else is out there. This is the main reason I started this psychedelic journey. Wisdom and understanding.

And why not, have some fun with it .

I like your plan. I personally find most tryptamines to be rather heavier weight than LSD, but of course LSD can be very strong at high doses. What I like about LSD over those tryptamines is the trip duration. I feel like with the short ones, I barely have time to adapt to the experience before I'm coming down already. I also feel like most of the tryptamines have a more sedate body feel. I like how LSD and phenethylamines make me want to be active.

When you are on LSD, you will have time to do multiple things. You can spend time in the dark with music mediating until you plateau. Then you can spend part of the plateau at the beach (highly recommended if the people aren't too intimidating). And then you can go come and finish up with a live concert or appropriate movie (and cannabis of course), which is a great way to wind down a long trip.

Anyway, I think your choice of dose should be fine if you are in a comfortable setting. One thing about LSD at least is that I find that with a significant dose the experience runs for something like 12 hours, and most people have a lot of trouble sleeping until the last residual effects are gone. Keep in mind that if you want to avoid disrupting your sleep schedule, you should start early in the day.

Best Wishes!

Thanks for your input!

I totally agree about the tryptamines trip duration: once you are into it, you have like 2 hours to fully enjoy the experience at its peak, I’d have liked to have another 2/3 hours in that peak.

1V LSD has an estimated onset / come up of 2 hours total, so I guess I could do it early in the morning, around 7 AM, spend a couple of hours in my man cave and then going to the beach around 9:00 AM, when there is barely people until 11:00 AM. Then I can come back to my cave and enjoy some music and introspection, it is supposed to peak for 4/5 hours, so I can have some lunch and spend the evening enjoying the offset. And I would have still dinner and all night to sleep and rest.

I don’t know how the effects will differ from my experiences with tryptamines, guess that if I feel the dose is not strong enough I can always vape some weed to amplify the effects. I feel very confident with weed since I really know the substance for years, to me feels like an old friend that takes you by the hand and guide you through the trip. Of course, I’ll be careful and step in slowly.

I wouldn't change a thing. At one point, I was having trouble regulating my body temperature so I wrapped myself in a blanket. I started hearing music. Like acid guitar. I was confused because I couldn't tell where it was coming from. Took off the blanket and realized it was coming out of my heart.

I had already tried shrooms loads of times before i had done acid so i knew what to expect. I found the acid pretty tame compared to a load of shrooms actually. It's just easier to handle then shrooms and less visual imo. It's more of a party drug then shrooms is thats for sure

Yes. For me personally, tryptamines tend to slam me really hard, and I find LSD much more manageable, and yes, recreational if I choose to use it that way. Everyone's different though. I think it's good for anyone new to psychedelics to try a few different ones, preferably at least one from each of the three chemical categories, to find out what works best for them.

Not lsd (never had much problems with lsd or lysergamides in general + never had any issues with 4-ho/aco/po tryptamines) but 2c-e... i would have taken a benzo with it

All sounds great to me - you're definitely ready I'd say, and that sounds like a perfect first-time dose.

Give it at least 2.5 hours before turning to cannabis though

You're a musician? You're gonna love lsd

Let us know how it goes

Trip Report here: https://www.bluelight.org/community...ions-be-careful-with-the-trip-a-ton©️.940186/

Long short story: Tried LSD for the first time, dosage was a little underwhelming (150mcg) and I used Cannabis to boost the effects. At one point, while looking at multicolor galaxy lights I was projecting in my ceiling, it got too much intense and I was floating away in the cosmos. I got overwhelmed by the sudden sensation (I experimented that before on tryptamines, but it was nice, not scary like this time) got anxious, probably because I used too much weed, and didn’t let go. I felt scared and anxious, but I calmed down and continued enjoying the trip.

A lot more of conclusions in the long post, but that’s basically it.

Music can come from the most unexpected places. It sounds like you had a deeply unique and personal experience.

leave grass for later than titrate how much is good without looping so acid is enough its pans labyrint or memento or:

jou in the nature with beautiful woman and maybe golden retriever ;-)

My first foray occurred at the first opportunity after 4 years of reading about it and really being psyched up for something very different than school and social normativity, possibly related to spiritual realization, and somehow connected to music and festivals,

My friend bought 2 microdots and gave me mine for later (I did not her that instruction) which I swallowed immediately while he held onto his, until we got back to his pad.

what a riot, I would definitely have done it the same way - that was how I was living at the time. young, impulsive, stupid, yet informed and very very curious and non-judgemental.
