Bupe If Tramadol helped tapering subs would Effexor also work too and in PAWS?

I have taken Tramadol every now and then to boost my mood and serotonin levels, especially while weaning subs, and it helps immensely, particularly mentally, so am wondering would Effexor/venlafaxine help aswell if I was to use this AD during the final stages of my bup taper and for PAWS? since Tramadol and Effexor are similar in terms of increasing mood and serotonin levels.

Do ADs will really help sub PAWS or do they only help those with chemical imbalances and not related to opiate or bup related depression?

I know tramadol lifts my mood and makes me more happier, particularly now that am weaning off the subutex and since am on a low doses of subutex...So am hoping Effexor will help me mentally when I come off subs?

thanks.

The tramadol likely helped since it's an opioid and it was adding to the subs, so I don't think that the effexor would work in the same way.

Venlafaxine made my buprenorphine withdrawals worse. All the side effects were super intensified. Though YMMV. I wasn't taking it to try and keep the symptoms at bay, but was in an outpatient program in which drug compliance was mandatory. Man that was a horrible couple of weeks, though I was going through clonazepam and buprenorphine withdrawals at the same time. I was taking loads of dextromethorphan HBr to numb my nerves from the NMDA antagonism and quetiapine fumarate once it became too awkward to handle the dex'ed out state so I could go to sleep.

Good luck with your taper, man.

I feel that using venlafaxine is this way, without a diagnosis requiring it, would be a little heavy handed.
Venlafaxine is a powerful drug and is known to cause quite alot of adverse effects on its own. I can only imagine most AD making opiate WD even more miserable.
Exercise, living well and a 5-htp suppliment would likely benefit you just as much, if not more.

How about using them in PAWS? like few months after quitting subutex?

anybody knows what works for mood, depression PAWS etc?

I took Effexor for a few months after quitting bupe, it helped, but made me feel like a zombie so I quit taking the medication. I would definitely speak to your doctor about matters such as this though.

It depends on the person, but with me I can't deal take Effexor during w/d or PAWS because in opiate w/d especially with tramadol it makes the anxiety unbearable. Plus it makes me puke within five minutes of taking it... odd it's so similar to tramadol

But tramadol helps me mentally and I have no issues getting off it, thats whenever I take it...So am hoping or wondering if Effexor just might help me get through the PAWS..I can always taper the Effexor with St Johns Wort or other confort meds no?

Talk to your doctor.

AD's never helped me. PAWS are part of the process. Manage your time, exercise, eat well, and be social. These things will he hard at first, but will start making you feel normal.and happy again over time. I subscribe to the thought that AD's are only for chemically depressed people. Withdraw along from a drug doesn't make one chemically depressed.

That being said, chemical depression is often the reason for many drug addictions.

Talk to your doctor.
