If the world was going to end, why do you think it would happen?

Human orchestrated multi-atomic bomb detonation causing the death of 95% of multicellular terrestrial organisms and the extinction of humans. The political leaders of United States, Russia, and China will be the culprits.

My attempt to stop this would be incredibly futile,.. but in a fantasy setting, yes, ill try to stop it.... even though this has nothing to do with Sex, Love, and Relationships.

the world is going to end. we're not learning about conservation of resources the easy way so we will learn the hard way. we'll continue apace until it's all used up and then we'll start going backwards. most of us will die off, the rest will kill each other and it will take the planet a couple or few hundred-thousand years to erase all trace of mankind.

The Human race is ridiculously stubborn when it comes to survival. At least some of us are always going to survive something like nuclear war or a plague that kills 99% of the population. The only thing that would do the job is a planet-ending event like the sun exploding or an asteroid decimating all life on Earth, but by the time something like that happens we'll already be inhabiting other planets.

So, we're kind of like a stubborn fungus or Herpes. No matter what you do we'll just keep spreading and you'll never really be able to eradicate us. Until our entire Galaxy gets swallowed by a black whole or collides with another Galaxy at least. People think that such minor things as war/famine/disease could completely wipe out Humanity are cray.

Pretty much this. Humankind is pretty much a partical of poo in a cosmic fart of the Universe. Eventually the planet will be destroyed by the Sun. Man will die off or hopefully move on long before this.

The most catastrophic human disaster will be a nuclear winter, but even then it would take many decades if not longer to completely wipe us out. The major targets such as America, Europe India/Pakistan will no doubt cop the brunt of the initial attack, but that will still leave large portions of the planet intact. If we cool down towards an ice age, plenty of now inhospitable regions will become somewhat more livable. If we warm up then suddenly areas of Siberia or Antarctica will be able to support life for a while longer.

Technology will give us a lifeline for a time. So long as we have oxygen to breath and water, humans will stand more of a chance of survival than most other organisms on Earth. At worse a handful of lucky people will jettison off the planet and set up home on the moon. Solar energy to convert frozen water into Oxygen and hydrogen will allow a small group to live. Perhaps not as comfortable as in New York currently, but enough to allow them to breed and continue to stare at the stars.
