I'm fairly new to smoking oxys. I usually just take a big hit and hold it in until no smoke comes out. A friend of mine was telling me today that you only really need to hold it in for about 10 seconds and that the smoke you blow out after is just from the bindings and other crap in the pill. I also remember hearing something about it taking like 7 seconds from a hit held in your lungs to get your brain buzzing.

Any well experienced smokers willing to shed some light on this?

I usually eat them and sometimes rail them depending on how fast I need my fix.

I really like to eat them because I know its the best bang for my bucks. But I find it fun to smoke too... especially w/ friends.

They say it takes seven seconds for the nicotine from a cigarette to get to your brain, or that's what the anti-smoking ads the Government puts out tell me.

You probably don't need to hold it in too long, the drug will mostly get absorbed pretty quick. A whole lot of that smoke is the binders and fillers you burnt, and that shit is very bad for your lungs, which is why smoking pills isn't a great idea.

Smoking it sucks. I've done it a few times before, and each time I took a hit I made sure to hold the smoke in for at least 30 seconds. Now, I don't know if that's necessary, I just did it to make sure none of the oxy was wasted by me letting out the smoke too early

while smoking does give the user the fastest possible onset of the effects, even faster than shooting, that doesn't mean its worth it to smoke everything. Smoking oxy is wasteful and dangerous. But if your going to do it, then holding in the smoke until none comes out is unnecessary. 5-7 seconds is sufficient to absorb whatever is left of the oxy after you've destroyed most of it from the heat.

^Smoking oxycodone pills is definitely dangerous and stupid. However, smoking vaporizing opiates/opioids is a different matter.
I haven't looked into the melting point/boiling point/burning point/etc of oxycodone(freebase or salt), so I honestly don't know how safe/effective it is.

"Smoking Pills."

Those two words should never be side by side. If one were to obtain pure Oxycodone base, that would be a different story. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "Don't smoke pills."

Indeed. It takes approx. 4 seconds for smoke to penetrate the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract and pulminary epthelium.
Onset of effects is similar to(if not quicker than) IV.

Yup, like another person said below delta, smoking is quicker than even iv(not that a few seconds matter). I believe that has to do with the way your circulatory system works and the surface area of your lungs. Thing is though, you're not going to get the whole dose in one hit, unlike iv'ing. That's why the rush isn't as big as iv.

And no, I don't think there will be any benefit to holding it in longer than 5 or so seconds. You don't have to "zero it out." That never did anything for pot or heroin in my experience, and I can't see it doing anything here.

I agree with those that say smoking oxycodone is pretty much stupid. I was watching that Oxycontin express show on tv for the first time a couple nights ago and I was cringing watching that dude smoking his pills, and cringing everytime he was on camera drenched in sweat. Interesting show, cant believe how it is in Florida with pain management clinics in strip malls that only accept cash and dispense drugs on site. Thats unreal, never seen anything like that.

Since the question has been answered and the thread is beginning to degenerate, I will go ahead and close this.
