Thing is, you don't have to worry about it since no one knows its a sign of opiate abuse unless they too abuse opiates =D.

Parents fly in to visit from somewhere distant. Said user cannot abstain while they are in town, and has hardly seen them at all. Probable question in their minds: "Cannot abstain, or will not?" Cannot.

The main thing that gets me in trouble with the rents is the deep voice I have. Sometimes I can blame it on a cold, but my dad knows all too well...

Drug culture is every where, the nicest suburban neighborhoods are not nearly as clean and holy as most people would have you believe. The people there that arennt involved are just oblvious

The runny nose and sniffling, being super-social and enthusiastic, wide-open eyes, excessive moving around and trips to the bathroom every 15 minutes are astonishingly easy to hide.

It never ceases to amaze me that saying "yeah, I've just had too much coffee" works like a charm every time, when meanwhile you're coked out of your damn mind.

Drug naive people are willing to believe the lamest explanations... Of course, anyone who's done coke (or any stim, for that matter) isn't buying it, no doubt about that ;)

Trouble is, coffee never made anyone sniff a lot, then blow a massive chunk of bloody mucus mixed with dried orange-colored curds and a central mass of yellow-green stuff into a napkin ;).

^ lol, true. And yuck. :)

But I think a lot of it has to do with people just looking for confirmation of what they already expect to be the case. Like with the coffee excuse, it's easy to just add "I might be coming down with a cold" and that's that.

Bottom line: drug naive people aren't looking for signs of drug use, they're looking for run-of-the-mill explanations for abnormal behavior. Coffee and a cold: try that explanation, and I think you'll be surprised. %)
