Imagine if everyone DID know FACTUAL information about drug abuse...We always talk about how it would be better if there is less ignorance, etc about drug use and abuse.....But imagine the flip side of that. (Now before you go laughin, I always did my own laundry from when i was a lil kid, but i know alot of yalls mamas be doin your wash ;) ) "Honey, I THOUGHT somethin was up! You were doin 40s all last night! Look at all this yellow stain on the inside of your shirt! Youre goin to rehab!" Police could see a bottle of Benadryl in your car and use it as probable cause.....Using nose drops would be suspect......What is some other bad things that could come if peopel actually knew what the real signs of drug use were?Sure, we all know "bloodshot eyes" and "eats alot" for stoners, but what if your family/job/P.O. looked at your thumb and knew that the calluses on them is from lightin the bong or crack stem? I aint gonna say em al but i can think of alot more, what does all you guys think?

Well, you could always get those callouses from lighting cigs. But good question. Maybe we should be grateful we don't have this problem?

My dad had to keep nudging me during my grandmother's wake prayer service thing. He thought I was just tired...

I'm pretty sure my friends/family must wonder why I work up to 20 hours a week at my part time job yet still constantly tell them I'm broke when they ask me to do something that involves money.

Tiny pupils.

Hardly anyone, besides those that use, seem to realize that pupils can get smaller from opiates/opiods. A lot of people only think dilated pupils are a sign of use.

i always find it amusing to drive along the street (or walk)) and look for people that are high.

my friends and i play a game "whats that hobo on this time?" =D

Yeah i can usually tell if someone's high. But a good thing is that most people I am around at school/work have no fucking clue. It's easy to hide around people that don't have any drug knowledge. One thing, when I lived with mi madre, she straight up researched that shit!! Anyone with any common sense can figure it out just by reading a website or two. She always knew what was up with me just from the little signs.

I can spot someone on stims from a mile away, but from another persons eyes, for example a boss, A stim user is just a great worker.

Pinpoint pupils and rubbing one's nose too often.

Also clothes with burn holes in them from nodding out while smoking a cigarette.

I have great "drug radar" and I think most hard drug users do too ... which is why I always get offered hard drugs at events and such (was talking about than on another thread, damn it pisses me off ... and a friend of mine who went to the same event was like, no, didn't see any hard drugs ... well you weren't looking hard enough & the purveyors of such things weren't looking for YOU ... lol ...). Even though I'm off the gear (both kinds, uppers & opiates), I retain said drugdar & use it much to the chagrin of my patients (I work in a psychiatric/substance abuse setting.)

Oh yeah & when I was a speedfreak, nobody knew until a year into it when I was a gibbering paranoid mess. For the first six months it was all, "Wow! SKL! You're dropping weight, your room/car/self is impeccably clean, your doing great in school!" blah if only the knew

Opiates on the other hand I used to go into work high as a kite (no not the psych/substance abuse setting ... a kitchen at this point) and people would notice I was totally munged out on "something" but was still a good worker and they couldn't ever put their finger on it ... hmm ... although this was a workplace where smoking weed at one's station on the line was considered totally acceptable....

"Honey, I THOUGHT somethin was up! You were doin 40s all last night! Look at all this yellow stain on the inside of your shirt! Youre goin to rehab!"

hahaaha, I always used to say "damn, if my moms only knew what these green stains were...."
even though she never did my laundry either, my shirts would be layin all over my room, green stains in plain sight and shit, lol.

lighters all have black marks on the bottoms from packing down bowls/bongs

^I've thought that too.

And Spork, you can bet if my gramma died I'd be nodding like fuck at her wake. Fuck opiate sobriety.

So true. Nobody ever offered me drugs until after I started using them. Now I get offered them all the time. Also, I can almost always tell when other people are high... like my wife and I were going in the pet store the other night and there was a couple there acting very weird in the parking lot. My wife turned to me and asked "what do you think THEIR problem was?", and I said "drugs", like it was obvious -- well, to me it WAS; she's not a drug user. It cracked her up, but I wasn't even trying to be funny.

One big sign of opiate use is hoarseness in the voice. This is true even if you're not smoking them.

hahah...

nodding out, being tired, being broke, tiny pupils, large puipils when you are WDing...being sketchy...track marks, being irratilbe or angry. mood swings, change in hygeine.

and yeah, i agree most hard drug users can sniff out some dope or other drugs when they are around. just trhe other day i had a delivery to make to the set of some home make over show they are filming in northern MD. the guy who i was supposed to meet with and drop the stuff off looked like a burn out. sure enough we got to talking and he said something about the woods around the area being good to go "take a walk in" plus i think i give off the vibe too, my eyes look like cats eye marbles haha

People who come in and find me nodded out against a wall late at night while sitting on my bed in a position that would usually be very uncomfortable with the CD player cranked up tend to suspect im on opiates. But these people already know im on opiates anyway.

Other then that people dont notice anything. It's not easy to pick up on the signs of someone being high on opiates if you don't know what to look for. It takes a junkie to spot a junkie and i can usually spot one when their high or sick.

What really pisses me off is sometimes when people think im high when im not on anything really except my normal dose of daily benzos and other psych meds. People think im on coke if im manic and im on weed, drunk or some kinda downer if im depressed.
