If its legal to sell needles OTC in your state, can pharmacists refuse?

Where I live I usually go to Rite Aid. I found 1 only sells them in boxes of 100, one won't sell at all and 1 only does the 10 pk. Both Walgreens won't. I usually just get the box. I don't look like what they consider a stereotypical addict by any means.
I just go in confident and say "I need a box of bd 31 gauge insulin syringes with short tips the ones with the blue label (this is cuz they always seem like they don't know which one)" and then pay...by debit lol.
Don't get upset when turned down or asked questions.
 
yeah, I'd like to point out, I currently have leukemia, so I have chemo hair, and I walk with a cane at 25. that could be the reason why I don't have problems. nobody really wants to give shit to a cancer patient.
 
In WA otc syringe sales are legal and actually encourged in order to prevent the spread of diseases. However it is still very much hit and miss when its time to buy. I don't look like an addict by any means. I have always made my appearence a priority and can promise nobody would suspect me of using needles (many close people in my life). In my area we have only 1 needle exchange 1hr away open Tues for 1pm til 4pm and that's it. They only exchange 1 for 1 no extra. I have only been sucessful at getting sticks at Rite Aid. One will only sell the 10pks (the one closest to me) with long tips which I hate. And the other will only sell the boxes of 100 but located an hr away from my home.
 
in mississippi its legal to buy syringes otc. but like many others said its the pharmacies discretion to say yes or no. i never goto CVS or RiteAid for both of them tell me I either have to get my insulin thru them or hafta have my diabeetus card or the rx of my insulin.Wallytworld hasnt gave me any problems anywhere, this hold true to walgreeens and every mom and pop store
 
In NC you can get them OTC, but I have been refused on 2 different occasions. One of these times was in Charlotte at a CVS near a heroin distribution house, and they claimed I needed an insulin prescription to get it filled. The other was in my home city, and I think that could be chopped up to the way I was dressed...
 
I always have had a theory that Walgreens sold needles more freely than other pharmacies because of them being close to drug addiction and wanting to be taking a progressive approach. Wishful thinking maybe.

I forget how many years ago Illinois passed a law legalizing the sale but you have always been able to buy them. If not you just went somewhere else.

That was a crazy read, man. I had no idea that family was so close to drug addiction. It's probably not the reason you can usually get rigs from there, but its an interesting theory. I don't know about where you're from but here, while any walgreens will sell you rigs, they only sell the 100 packs. After most junkies cop, if they have any money left over that goes toward nothing more than a 10 pack of rigs, meaning you gotta go somewhere else.
 
walmarts always sold to me, anywhere ive lived. occasionally they'll ask "what type of insulin do you use?" and i tell them "i mix 70/30". never had a problem.

When I'm not in New Hampshire, I live in Florida for college. My boyfriend and I have always been able to get rigs at Target, except for one time when there was a bitchy new young female pharmacist who kept questioning my boyfriend and said that she "caught him in a lie" and wouldn't sell them. I went in the next day and another guy sold them to me so it was fine. This is in Orlando so I don't know if all the Targets in FL will do this. Someone told me that Publix sold them rigs but I've never tried to get them there personally. I haven't tried Walgreens in FL but they seem to be more liberal about selling rigs than other places...

Any walgreens, CVS, or grocery store. The best is a Walgreens drive-through pharmacy; some even have two lanes, just go in the far lane and the pharmacist can barely see you anyways.
 
New Hampshire hypodermic syringe sale??

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this in, I thought it a bit appropriate.

So, I live in New Hampshire, USA. I went to my local Walmart pharmacy to purchase a 10 pack of diabetic syringes. The woman at the counter wasn't a normal pharmacy employee, in fact she was someone I knew personally (but doesn't know about the little) needle habit. So, I went up anyway, placed my order and was informed "no sorry, the law's changed". So I left.

Does anyone know if the law of selling of hypodermic needles has in fact changed, in New Hampshire?

Any help would be great, thanks
 
why dont you try looking it up? every state has a website where all the laws are listed. honestly though its probably the pharmacist trolling you and not wanting to sell them.

Yeah, thanks. I did look it up and couldn't find anything about the laws recently changing. Which is why I thought of asking on here, just in case someone knew.

And for anyone interested, the law hasn't changed, I bought some yesterday from the nice lady. (my step-mom's sister was the one who denied me the sale and said the law changed - she lied.)
 
I gegt denied sometimes some pharms wont sell rigs after dark. Wal Mart usually sell if only in 100 packs but its like 12 dollars there. alabama here

I bet the reason you couldn't find anything about a law change is it didn't. Palli didn't lie to you, your friend at the pharmacy did.
