i have taken codeine syrup and felt fine.but whenever i take tylenol 3/4s i get a fever and turn red and my skin burns.its bad. i just wondered if i shouldnt smoke opium cuz opium is part morphine and part codeine.its weird that its hard to get opium these days but hundred years ago there were opium dens

I find it strange that you have no reaction to codeine syrup but do have a reaction to codeine pills.

Assuming the dosage of codeine was the same, it's either an antihistamine in the syrup which you could then take when you take the pills, or it is the APAP in the codeine pill preperation which you are having a negative reaction to (especially if you took a high dose and didn't do a CWE).

Either way opium would not be a good idea until you determine how the codeine/apap prep was negatively effecting you as NeighborhoodThreat said.

I'm interested to know what the inactive ingredients of both preparations are - I suspect it's not the actual Codeine you're having a bad reaction to.

Edit: Did the codeine syrup have any acetaminophen in it? It's highly possible that that poison is what's not sitting right inside you (not a bad thing imo... APAP fcking sucks for everything).

I'm with Allegator,
It sounds like you're allergic reaction was really a histamine reaction, and codeine cough syrup is mixed with an antihistamine, which is why you had no problem with the drug in that formula, but you did when combined with APAP. I'd try taking an antihistamine with some CWE codeine and see how that goes before attempting to take opium.

I suspect you dont have issue with the codeine in the cough syrup because there is likely an anti-histamine, like promethazine, in it as well. In Tylenol 3's or 4's, you get APAP and codeine, and caffeine for the 3's, so you are more sensitive to the histamine-release caused by the codeine. To me it does not sound like an allergy, but rather a very hightened sensitivity to the histamine released by codeine, which is counteracted in cough syrups with an anti-histamine. If you aren't having trouble breathing, and parts of your body aren't swelling, it doesn't sound like a real allergy.

You should really get a proper allergy test done by your doctor, stuff like this needs to be on your medical record, as well as being a future reference for you on what drugs you can/can't use recreationally.

but also thats what happins when you try to take tylenol 3's and 4's and take too much or are just trying to get high in other words.. i myself have had this problem and i also know many other ppl who have had it
