Why drug use and drug trade should be legalized and how it should be regulated.
If you ask people as what they would describe the biggest problems of the modern society, some would answer the alcohol abuse by teenagers and young adults and traffic accidents caused by it, others may say cancer and AIDS. However the majority will think of wars and the criminality.

So, what could we do to work against these problems?

To find that out let’s first take a closer look on these problems.

Wars will never cead to exist unless all the people in world are happy which is most likely never going to happen. However nowadays if you think about wars you might find annother word pop up in your head. And that is terrorism.

The biggest problem of the criminality is obviously the organized crime. This can be divided in drug cartells and the mafia.

So, what have terrorisme groups, drug cartells and the mafia in common?

Their biggest money sources are illicit drug and weapon trading with drug trading being on top. While we cannot legalize weapon use and trading since that would be madness in the modern society, we can legalize drug use and drug trading.

If we were to make drug trading legal with reasonable taxes, the biggest funding source for these organizations would be taken away. Also the overall crime rate would be deacreased since drug offenses make 20 percent or more out. Money that was previoulsy wasted on drug prosecution could be used on rehab and spend in more detailled drug studies.

If making drug trading legal, drugs would offer a greater purity making it easier to dose them and with less risks and people wouldn’t be afraid anymore to call the 911 when they have overdosed.

Drug sale should only be done in clinics by qualifed doctors, who will tell customers possible risks associated with the drug they want to take and also recommended dosage. Opioids such as heroine should only be sold to people who are already dependent from it. Also only one dose should be sold at a time and on the same occasion rehab could be offered. People should get a medical examination before drug use to find any possible bad reactions to some drugs and should be older than 18 years old.

Unfortunately, English is not my maternal language, so please excuse the monotone writing.

Critic is welcome

IIRC Keith Stroup was quoted as saying that "there's never been a person born who couldn't qualify".

If all drugs were legalised over night, what would happen to the gangs?

Say that overnight drugs were all of a sudden legalised and pharmaceutical companies started churning out drugs.
What would the gangs do? Would they act against these pharmaceutical companies to stop their production? Or would they start intimidating politicians to move them back to them being illeagel? etc
Its a massive source of revenue for them, I can't imagine them shrugging their shoulders, going "oh well" and settling down.

i think there would be a massive fallout, saying that the legal drugs be cheaper and safer. if they did such things as acts against pharmacuetical companies or intimidating politicians they would expose themselves to which theyd certainly be caught authorities. as for the initial idea of legalizing drugs- as long as you dont endanger others im all for it

They would simply find other sources of income. The Mexican cartels would step up kidnappings and such. And the American street gangs would get deeper into weapons trafficing and prostitution.

Beat me too it. The cost of soliciting sex would skyrocket. They also might diversify into some mutual funds and other sound investments ;)

Hehe.
Well the thing is that the cartels aren't dumb.. By no means do I support their actions, I don't care what the precentage of the drugs I buy are from Mexico. I will happily go straight if they stop fuck in up my city and state...shits getting too close to home for me...litterally
Druggies And junkies I can handle... But kidnappers, rapists and killers make me wanna clean my gun so it shoots just that little bit straighter... Ya know?

Everybody...please stop making threads like this. We got many, many threads about the things that would happen if drugs got legalized. We dont need more. Ima merge this into one of them but please remember to post in one of the many ones we already got becuz this topic been done to death.

PLEASE....SEARCH BEFORE YOU MAKE A NEW THREAD....ESPECIALLY IF IT IS ONE THAT IS A COMMON TOPIC.

Well, what would happen to illegal drug trade? I'm going to look at history as a precedent. What happened to the gangs of the 1920's that thrived on illegal alcohol sales? They went out of business for the most part.

In today's world...we'd see pretty much the same thing happen. If cannabis alone became legal the same way that alcohol and tobacco is, the gangs would have to find a different way to make money. Certainly, they would lose a huge amount of money, since drug cartels make their money on selling drugs. They'd have to move to other sources of income, like someone else said, illegal arms trading, kidnappings, ect. ect.

Should all drugs be legal? I don't think so. One shouldn't be able to just go to the cornerstore and get methamphetamine. However, drugs like that should be decriminalized, and the offender should be sent to a REAL rehab program that addresses the problem. Basically, the truly dangerous drugs like cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine shouldn't be available to just anyone, but they should at least be decriminalized. Basically, a harm-reduction system for those things, don't condone it by selling it at a pharmacy, but at the same time don't put someone in jail for X years for possession, since jail is like Facebook for criminals. With heroin, I'm a bit mixed on it. That is an addictive substance, and perhaps giving it to people who errr..."need" it for therapeutic purposes should be able to have it, but only for that. Really, to me, I don't think it makes sense to treat heroin addiction with heroin, but I really don't know how that works out, I've never been to rehab or addicted to heroin. But hey, they do it in the Netherlands, so maybe it does work.

The world, I think, would be better off overall.
