If all drugs were legal, would the market phase some out?

once all hard drug use became legal, everyone but hard drug users would be robbed and hunted into extinction. The easy targets like pawn shop owners would be the first to go. Rick Harris doesn't even have to phone a friend who is an expert in this shit...he already knows it. Through the process of attrition, weed users will become obsolete. Eventually it will just be meth, coke, and heroin users, and coke users will be hunted for their bling. Hence it's just going to be cockroaches, meth and heroin users, and keith Richards all duking it out for survival in some sort of post apocalyptic reality television zombie scenario.

Pawn shops are a fiends best friend man if we rob them who are we gonna sell all this shit we stole to?

craigslist.org and ebay. Once the pawn shops are eliminated, dope heads will be forced to cultivate the patience required to wait a week to sell their stolen shit, but it will pay off, they will have 4x as much money, and be able to by 7-8x as much dope when you take price breaks into consideration. They will be this much higher to plot on the stoners. It's a snowball rolling down the mountain essentially.

Sad fact is that no matter how much drug laws are eased up; someone will market a more dangerous but cheaper blackmarket alternative to popular substances.

I disagree. If everything was legal, than it would be regulated much like other legal recreational substances. It's illegal to take something which tastes similar to tobacco, and throw nicotine on it and sell it as a regular pack of cigarettes.

You must sell what you claim to sell, this is what the 1906 Pure Food and Drug act was created for. People were selling 'patent' medications, like soothing syrup for babies, or cure alls for adults, but really loading it up with varying levels of opium tincture. Not that morphine isn't a great cure all. It would be a perfect one if it didn't cause dependency or respiratory depression.

The purpose of the act:

"An Act for preventing the manufacture, sale, or transportation of adulterated or misbranded or poisonous or deleterious foods, drugs, medicines, and liquors, and for regulating traffic therein, and for other purposes."

It's obviously been redefined, and strengthened over the 108 years following it's implementation.

marijuana kills

Noids would cease to exist because weed, man

There would be two types of opiates, Heroin and Buprenorphine (for people who want to taper off heroin)

Research chemicals would be more or less irrelevant and not toyed with much outside of the actual researchers because LSD man

people would stop smoking crack because cocaine purity would be amazing

everyone would be ultra-productive because there would be amphetamines for all

a lot of people would probably stop smoking cigs and drinking so much alcohol

there'd be more overdoses, but also less elderly sucking up our resources

Ricky Gervais still wouldnt be funny

Crack would be around still. It's more the rush i imagine, and IV/M would be stigmatised because we always have something to stigmatise.
I reckon total addiction rate would be pretty much the same, addicts going to addict regardless of substance imo. Maybe rate will be increased for younger people because they're just more likely to use it earlier?
I'm going with less overdoses because of consistent product, but there will always be those nutters that like to push boundaries. More overdoses when first legalised because those nutters that like to push boundaries often like to push boundaries that don't even exist.
Cigarette use might drop a little but only to sub in those mj tokers, drinking will definitely drop.
Street violence would probably drop as well

Can agree on ricky though

RCs can be stimulants, opiates, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, etc. and arent exclusively psychedelics. I get what you mean though.

Remembers RCs fall under the category of all drugs.
