Identifying molly or so-called molly

I know you can't safely tell at all just by looking at it or tasting it. I want to have it tested. I posted another thread asking if anyone knows if there's anywhere I can buy a kit (like the ones dancesafe sells) locally so I don't have to order it since I'm kind of in a hurry to find out what I've got.

This is white powder, not crystally at all. I tasted it am happy to say it's just as gross as I remember molly being in the past. It's not just bitter though, it's a bit sour too. I can't remember if the molly I tasted in the past (it was like a year ago) was at all sour and a quick search on google/bluelight doesn't find me many people saying anything about the taste being sour... plus, I never tested the stuff that I tasted like a year ago so even if I could clearly remember what it tasted like, it's not a useful comparison anyway since I'm not entirely sure what that was either (although it sure was fun haha)

anyway... yeah... WHITE (not off white, not beige) POWDER (not crystals) tastes disgustingly bitter and sour... any idea what I might have? I know it could be any number of things, but it came from someone who I'm sure was either giving me legit product, thought they were giving me legit product, or at the very least giving me something they thought could pass as molly not just by appearance/taste but also it's effects, even if it isn't mdma or 100% mdma

so with that in mind, any ideas what I might have here?
 
There is absolutely no possible OR safe way to tell without testing. I got some powder molly twice last summer. One was absolutely gorgeous in tests and consumption, the other terribly horrific even though it fooled my test kit. Very horrific. Also i VERY highly doubt you can walk to the corner store and buy a test kit locally haha. This isn't Amsterdam after all. To be safe i suggest you wait to consume till you have a kit. Hell get it overnighted if it's that big of rush. Safety above all man. PLUR
 
It may not be amsterdam, but it IS Vansterdam, where cannabis seeds, mushroom spores, and living peyote and much more are legal to possess and sell.

did your "molly" just test negative for whatever adulterants your kit tested for? did it test positive for MDXX? What kit was it?
 
couldn't get it overnighted even if I wanted to, they don't even ship to canada :(
 
it was the mecke/marquis/simons combo from dancesafe. It had positive reactions to MDxx so i was stoked. It's hard to explain in detail, but they were "off" a little bit from the "normal" positive reactions i've seen often, but i thought nothing of it where they were very close positive reactions. Holy Fyackin Mistake and it was an actual chemical test. Taste tests are soooo not the way to go.
 
yeah well those tests that you WANT to see purple with not only can't differentiate between different MDXX compounds (they all give the same result) but supposedly there are other chemicals that can make it go purple too so some bunk pills will either have a small amount of mdxx or something else entirely to fool the kit

and personally, while I would love to have absolute knowledge, having something to go on is better than nothing so I'd still like to test my stuff especially since it's not just for me
 
Well be safe whatever you do. The negative and potentially life-long ramifications that could come from simply wanting "to be on something" for new years is not worth the risk. Know what it is you're taking. Good Luck! You're gonna need it if you eat it! ;)
 
well, like you said, it's pretty hard (if even possible) to KNOW what you're taking but the more you do know, the better... but by "having something to go on is better than nothing" (in case this wasn't clear,) I didn't mean a substance to be on, I meant having some knowledge/reason to go on is better than nothing (my point being even if the tests, etc aren't absolute proof, they're still damn useful)
 
We can't really tell you what you have, the best way, as you said, would be to use a testing kit. There are a lot of white, sour tasting powders out there, and it's really quite difficult to differentiate one from another. Hopefully your testing kit shows positive for MDMA and not some other garbage!
 
no way to say for sure what you have without a test kit..but from experience sour is BAD news. an tends to be pipes. i wouldn't consume without a test kit.
 
I second this - anytime I have had a bitter "might be MDMA but I'm not sure" taste along with a sour, acidic sort of taste, it has been pipes.

The molly caps I usually pickup from my dealer are cut with vitamin c powder and it makes it sort of an off-white/yelllowish color and they taste really sour but I tested them and they're tested positive and always make me roll really good :)
 
If you are not using a test kit then you simply do not know what your taking! PLEASE do not think that because a substance tastes like 'this' = safe to take. I could take a vitamin pill and make it both smell like and taste like MDMA.

He says it's sour, which would lead me to believe it is not MDMA.

MDMA should be very bitter tasting, however so are TONS of other drugs. Which is why tasting is a worthless way of determining contents. Even if it's bitter, it could be anything!

I would personally never consume anything without testing, but I can tell you that if it's sour, it's probably not MDMA :(

You should get a test kit though because like I said, even if it's bitter, so is LOTS of other substances.
 
How in the hell would anybody in the world know what u have? Its a white powder? Y know how many things can b white powder? It could b molly it could b crushed tyenol it could b rat poison. How the hell are we supposed to know? Smfh!!
 
I feel like this thread has run it's course, and the OP has received quite a bit of great advice- the unified message is to reagent test your stuff before you consume it.

Though there are "clues" and characteristics that lead us to suspect what you have is indeed contaminated, it's absolutely no way to determine what you have. MDMA can be a range of textures, colors, smells, etc.

I'm going to close this one up as this advice will likely keep repeating, and any additional feedback of playing "guess the substance" is not allowed.
