Idea's for disposing of pain med containers

These last few months I've amassed a mountain of pain med containers (mainly oxycontin), I haven't thown them away because where I live there are many homeless people going through the trash on trash day and I don't want to attract attention to my house. Anyway my garbage bag of containers is barely fitting in my cupboard anymore and I want to get rid of it. I've thought of scattering it through numerous trash bags on trash day but scared I'll be spotted.

Any idea's would be appreciated.
 
Run each bottle under warm water until the label becomes soft, then rub it off. Throw the destroyed labels in the trash. Throw the bottles away or recycle them at your local hospital or pharmacy.
 
I'll rip the labels off, tear them up, then throw them in a trash bag that I toss cat shit in from the litter box. Usually I try and find something gross to put in any bag that I may be getting rid of sensitive stuff. With some things like the baggies and capsules I get heroin in or whatever I'll go out late at night/early in the morning before the trash truck comes and toss them in someone else's trash.

See if your town has a "prescription return day" at some of the pharmacies. They have them here sometimes and I asked the pharmacist if I could return empty bottles because of the same concerns as the OP, and they said that's fine. In fact I think that they told me that I could return empty bottles to them anytime and didn't have to do it on the advertised return day. As your pharmacist if they will do this for you, and as long as all of your prescriptions are legit you don't have to worry about it.

Disposing of dead bodies of "gross people" in the trash mixed in with cat littler are we? 8o
 
Just throw them out at random trash cans at gas stations or around the town.... it's not a big deal. Just act normal and then leave. I've done it or drive on a empty highway mad throw them on the side of the road. That is less ethical though.
 
Get creative and research some DIY projects?

When disposing of my methadone bottles I always remove the label as I don't want anyone finding a bottle with my name on it saying methadone.
I always rinse the bottle out first then when I throw them away I just put them in a bag with my usual household rubbish and put the bag out into the bin.
If anyone was to look into my bin bag all they would find among the usual rubbish is plain brown bottles which could have contained anything at all, like kids medicine for example.
