I have a question that I may know the answer to, but am still gonna ask.

O.K, so the button that I am referring to is the blue arrow icon to the left of the forum name that looks like the "play" button on a dvd or what have you...

So in the past, after reading all of the posts in threads in the DC forum, the "play button arrow" would become faint, and inactive as a link. However, today it was still staying blue, even after I viewed all of the posts.

As I said, I think I know the answer, but was looking for a confirmation. Today, a thread came to its completion, and was put in the DC Archive by a fellow mod. I had not viewed the last couple of posts in it, and now that I have, the "play button" went faint.

So does not viewing recent posts in a thread that was just archived prevent the icon from fading out, or was I experiencing a different technical difficulty?

Thanks

Pushing the button marks the forum as read.

If new post is in the forum since you marked the forum read it goes back to dark blue instead of the faded blue-gray. Its a way of spotting if there are any new posts since you marked it read or looked through all new posts.

It is similar to thread titles being bolded if there are new posts since you last looked at the thread or marked the forum as read. A lot of times hovering your mouse cursor over a lot of vBullketin features gives a tooltip description of what they do.

I haven't pushed the button, but I usually read the threads and it goes faded. Then I use it as an indicator as to whether there are new posts or not. That's what I did today, and when I came to check on the forum, it was still dark blue so I thought there would be new posts. The last post was still the same though, and when I checked, all of the threads and posts had been viewed.

If you were at the forum view by using the back button that could make the view of forums the one from the lat time you were there instead of the current view. A get a new PM popup a second time by using the back button because my browser can be loading the page from history and cache rather than getting a fresh page from the server.

Also Bluelight does some strange behaviors at times for reasons I haven't discerned. When they happen frequently and are bothersome I suggest members clear their cache and cookies and see if that helps.
