Ice vs normall speed

first let me say i'm from the uk & meth is unheard of over here i have seen on loads of episodes of Dog the bounty hunter & that show called Cops that they have run in's with meth people all the time. If it aint on dog the bounty hunter chasing after people on meth who jumped there bond its on cops where there busting a meth lab etc.
As i said its unheard of in the uk im sure anyone else from england will agree with that comment.

well back to my point, i came across some last night for the first time. i didnt try any of it as i am a bit uneasy about what it does & 2nd i have never been a huge fan of uppers, im more a fan of K & trippy chemicals as uppers leave me "wired" & even the main buzz off them i find a bit boaring but i do wanna try this Ice just once.

here are my questions.......

1) i have seen ice pipes on tv but they looked nothing like a pipe for smoking weed on, do you need special pipes to do ice?
2) i believe you can snort it, is it as simple as just crushing the rocks down & sniffing it?
3) how does the buzz compare to normall speed?
4) is it really as addictive as the media say? (i mean if you believe the tv 1 smoke of weed & you go mad, 1 trip & you are some psycho who is mentally damaged for life so i am shady about the tales of ice)
5) whats the come down like?


i know it must sound kinda dumb to any people from the usa, but as i said ice is very rare in the uk. the people who were doing it are not close freinds, i would have stayed with them but i had to leave to go to the pub to meet closer freinds which is why i didnt join them last night but as i have the chance to try something i wanna learn a bit first & the questions i have i dont think erowid would be able to answer, hence i ask on here.

1. You *could* smoke ice in a mary jane pipe, but it's going to be terribly inefficient. You need a glass pipe, or, failing that, to use tinfoil "boats."

2. Yes, you can crush the chunks and snort it. I don't know what UK speed is like but believe me it's extremely painful to do so.

3. I don't know what you mean by "normal" speed. If you mean UK amphetamine I can't say. Compared to adderrall (sp?) It's fantastic. Very full of life, very chatty, very euphoric. It can come with a (severe) dark side in higher doses, or repeated experiences with little or no sleep.

4. It's very, very psychologically addictive. This is one time the media is right on target.

5. It's effin' horrible. Hours and hours of feeling spun out, unable to sleep, unable to eat, sweating, general malaise. Horrible.

It's not as bad as the media says but it is still very, very bad and addictive.

1) Yeah you do need a special glass pipe to smoke it, it is possible off foil but it is wasteful. Smoking is superior to snorting.

2) yes you can crush it down and snort it, I have never done UK 'speed' as 'speed' in Austalia is just cut methamphetamine.

3) I can't really compare the buzz to amphetamine, since it is stronger if you like stimulants it is probably better and if you don't really like stimulants then you might not like the stronger effects as much. I have done dexamphetamines, ritalin and cocaine and meth is better than any of them.

4) It is not as addictive as the media say, they do lay it on a bit thick, but make no mistake it is extremely addictive, definately the most psychologically addictive drug I have used.

5) I find the come down to be pretty easy so long as I have enough depressants to knock myself out. If you don't have enough sedatives, alcohol, marijuana or any combination of them to put yourself out the comedown is quite horrific. The trick is to get yourself to a nice level and stick to it, you can get extremely wired and there is a point where it is actually less enjoyable to be more high.

1. No, you can't smoke it out of the same pipe that you would with marijuana. You can find meth pipes at any head shop and sometimes at smoke shops. They have a shaft and a ball at the end with a hole at the top so that you drop the shards in. You have to heat it from under, not from the top like marijuana and you smoke it slowly cigarette while heating it, not how you would smoke marijuana.

2. Yes, you can snort it by just crushing up the crystals but you get the most from meth by smoking it (or shooting up but not everyone is down with that). Its specifically manufactured so that you have the alternative of smoking it, kind of like crack cocaine. You can crush and snort but the idea is to smoke it. Find a meth pipe before using your stash. FYI, it burns like shit when snorting crystal methamphetamine.

3. Its nearly impossible to compare the long lasting euphoria that you get from smoking crystal than the effects of pharmaceutical speed (Adderall, Dexedrine, etc.). Dexedrine, or what not, can easily produce euphoria at higher doses but its nothing compared to the euphoria that smoking meth exerts. The slang word Ice isn't used so much for methamphetamine in the U.S, In fact the slang "Ice" refers some what common to a different drug similar to meth. Anyway, the effects from that first hit of meth are so intense that its near impossible to describe in words. SO much more dopamine is released than prescribed speed.

4. Its terribly mentally addictive. Its just as addictive as the media says. I've watched people become addicted after their first time using. Heroin is the toughest drug to quit physically but mentally, crystal meth is by far the hardest drug to quit. I was very lucky to go no further than 3 months.

5. The comedown is worse than any other drug that I can think of, including MDMA. What comes up, must go down but meth comes down HARD. You wish that you were never born that first day coming down.

In the U.S. (Well at least in AZ where we border Mexico) its EVERYWHERE. Your lucky NOT to have Methamphetamine near you. Its an epidemic in America. Once you become addicted, which doesn't take more than a few times using, your world turns to shit and deep dark depression when you don't have it. You'll do almost anything for just $20 worth more.

at to the pipe, is it possible to smoke it the same way as crack?.....(i.e. laying a base of ash on top of a foil pipe & placing the meth on the ash & smoking it that way) or does it have to be done in 1 of those weird shaped pipes?

Get anything thin and glass, place your drugs inside and heat the container. There's hundreds of gheto home made vaporizers you can make.

You dont want flame to be touching the dope, you want to heat the area around it.

Im sure theres a diagram around here on how to turn lightbulbs into a vaporizer which is incredibly common in the west coast US.

Regarding what Lupus says about the flame not touching the dope, this can't be stressed enough. Keep the flame as far away from it as possible while still allowing it to vaporize.

You don't want anything else in the pipe/vaporizer with it. When it starts "melting" turn the pipe from side to side slowly and let it coat the glass. It will look like the inside of the bulb is covered in ice. Turning the pipe lets you be sure to keep the temperature (of the meth) as low as possible. As I said, this can't be stressed enough.

Too close and poof, you've wasted time and money.

Once you start smoking meth, taking Adderall and other prescription amphetamines won't get you high anymore. If you take enough they may prolong the meth high but not much more than that. When you wake up from a 3 or 5 day meth binge, prescription amphetamines become like caffeine pills, just something to keep you awake.

Eh, i used all sorts of crystal in my formative years but once i grew older and realized how futile it was i eventually came back to dexedrine. Not out of necessity but because i wanted to.

I was actually referring to while your in the grips of smoking methamphetamine, not after you've quit. Its been about 7 years since I last used meth and I could easily get high from dextroamphetamine if I were to abuse it. I'm prescribed it for ADHD so I know that its very possible. I rarely abuse it though because it keeps me from doing stupid things, like using meth and other hardcore drugs like heroin and what not.

As I tried to explain earlier, there is a difference between the two slang terms Ice and Crystal. Ice, the slang term for 4-Mar, is a different drug, although with similar effects to Meth. Many people can't tell the difference. Hardcore users sure can though.

Lesson of the day:
4-Methylaminorex (Ice or 4-Mar) has effects similar to methamphetamine but with a longer duration (up to 36 hours when used in much higher doses) but generally 12 hours when smoked. Its reported to have fewer side effects with a much less addiction potential but I couldn't confirm that from past experience with the drug.

I used only twice. Only used a second time because I couldn't obtain any meth. Both occasions I bought 0.1g. First usage I started with 25mg (sorted out the gram into four crushed bumps) and with all the hype from friends I was disappointed. Maybe if I hadn't such a massive methamphetamine habit I may have enjoyed it a little more. I found it to be less potent than meth and would prefer it over Ice. The effects felt similar to a low dose of MDMA with less stimulation. The majority of the high I felt more clear headed and sort of "floaty". Eventually I got bored and smoked 50mg. The lingering effects lasted forever but at that dose I could easily differentiate the effects from Meth.

Please note that I haven't used all this stimulant crap for like 7 years so I don't want to come out sounding like some stimulant freak.

4-Methylaminorex died out in the 90s though as far as i know. We were getting small amounts on the west coast US by way of hawai and probably japanese smugglers. Your average tweaker isnt going to know the difference anyway aside from the dosage being smaller.
