Harm Reduction Ibogaine — showing up at rehab having just taken ibogaine: party foul or harm reduction?

Hi brave souls,

I have been struggling with addiction for three decades.

I do not have the funds for a supervised ibogaine treatment abroad, but I do have excellent insurance and a few grams of ibogaine total alkaloid (TA).

My partner is willing to support me through an ibogaine “flood” experience, but I am very worried about cardiac arrhythmias and other toxic effects, including the risk of long‑QT–mediated ventricular dysrhythmias and cardiac arrest that have been documented even at relatively low doses.

What do you think would happen if I went to a high‑level U.S. hospital‑based substance use treatment program and told them at intake that I had just taken a flood dose of ibogaine?

My assumption is that they would immediately send me to the emergency department and that I would be managed as a toxicology case with cardiac monitoring and supportive care.

In which case, yeah, I’d rather be at a Mexican beach.

Is this a terrible idea?
