As our planet Earth orbits around the sun at a mind-blowing 108,000 kilometers per hour (67,000 miles per hour), we rarely pause to reflect upon our greater surroundings, the vast cosmos that embraces our solar system and our Milky Way galaxy. Many great human civilizations have relied upon the cosmos not only for navigation, but also for tracking Earth’s position around the Sun. On March 21st, we will pause to recognize a pivotal point in Earth’s orbit that has been observed and celebrated by our ancestors for countless centuries. This point is known as the Spring Equinox, which occurs when Earth’s rotational axis is pointing directly perpendicular to the direction of the Sun (see Figure 1). Since neither hemisphere is closer to the Sun at this moment, both of Earth’s hemispheres receive equal amounts of light (see Figure 2), and the sun passes directly overhead at noon along the Equator (see Figure 3). For many, this day represents the initiation of the new beginning offered by Spring, and all the magical growth and rebirth that will occur in the weeks following the Equinox. Josh quickly went to work spreading Psytrance around his large campus by DJing at small social gatherings and hosting small events in his dorm room. Since then, Josh has begun organizing larger events, utilizing different venues across his campus to introduce a wide variety of students to Psytrance. Even when this young man returns to his family's home in Woodbury, MN, he continues to organize exciting Psytrance events with the support of his parents. Nathen Gallardojohnson (HardkoreNate) has been an integral part of the Minnesota electronic music community for many years. He is a major part of the massive organization 'UncensoredUs', which organizes some of the largest electronic music events in Minnesota. Thanks to HardkoreNate, Psytrance has recently become a major part of many electronic music events in Minnesota. HardkoreNate is also a major part of the organization 'The Rift', which recently began putting together full-scale Psytrance events in Minnesota. After first being introduced to the music of Sasha & Digweed, Liz Wheeler has been immersed in the electronic music community for nearly ten years now. Over the past ten years, Liz has mastered the process of sifting through massive amounts of music, allowing her to uncover only the most high energy, Full On Psytrance tracks available. Even though his first Psytrance event was just a year and a half ago, Kevin O'Donnel is a very experienced member of the Psytrance community. After his interest in Psytrance was first sparked at Earth Dance 2007 (Illinois), Ascension immediately began gathering experience by attending Psytrance events all over the country, including Gaian Mind Festival, Gemini Festival, Sacred Earth, and others. Kevin also graduated from the University of Iowa in 2007, with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. Since then, this young engineer has been devoting an enormous amount of his free time and energy to help out with numerous Psytrance events around the Midwest, in addition to organizing his own. A force to be reckoned with, Ascension is sure to lay down an extra special dance floor beating as he leads us into the darker portion of our journey!

Abraham Rodriguez is currently studying neurobiology and chemistry at the University of Iowa in pursuit of his dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. In addition to his scientific understanding of the Universe, Abrahm also has a strong understanding of music due to seven years of classical piano lessons and recitals during his youth. Combining his deep understanding of the physical Universe with a strong desire to catalyze positive changes for our planet, Abrahm sends waves of positive energy rippling throughout the dance floor. This positive intention allows Abrahm to release an enormous amount of optimistic energy during his sets, transforming the dance floor into a tribal stomping frenzy. Zlatan Krizan is a Ph.D Professor of Psychology at Iowa State University in Ames, IA, and has been DJing Progressive Trance for years. Producing Goatrance is not the only thing that Jeremy Green does in his free time. In addition to being a full time college student at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, he also teaches people to snowboard at a nearby ski/snowboard resort called Spirit Mountain. Jeremy Green, or Jagno Gaia, also works with Bobby Ognyanov (Los Angeles, CA) via the internet to produce unique Goatrance tracks under the alias 'Aerosis' for the notorious Suntrip Records, an international Psytrance and Goatrance record label. Recently, Jeremy has teamed up with Josh Stahnke (Optic Mind) to spread positive vibes and cultural awareness via small Psytrance events in Duluth, MN, and Woodbury, MN. Robert Young's path in music first began in the midwest when he played in several punk and hardcore bands in the early 90's. Later on, he moved to the west coast where he discovered the compelling sounds of electronica. Psychedelic chillout, dub, and trance music are his favorite styles, mixing up an epic soundscape of groovy beats and conscious vibes. As a member of the Audiognomes DJ collective, he is an avid promoter of Psytrance in the Midwest. These days, he divides his time between DJing, music production, sound design, and playing bass in the Chicago dub band Ital Conquerors. Even though his first Psytrance event was just a year and a half ago, Kevin O'Donnel is a very experienced member of the Psytrance community. After his interest in Psytrance was first sparked at Earth Dance 2007 (Illinois), Ascension immediately began gathering experience by attending Psytrance events all over the country, including Gaian Mind Festival, Gemini Festival, Sacred Earth, and others. Kevin also graduated from the University of Iowa in 2007, with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. Since then, this young engineer has been devoting an enormous amount of his free time and energy to help out with numerous Psytrance events around the Midwest, in addition to organizing his own. A force to be reckoned with, Ascension is sure to lay down an extra special dance floor beating as he leads us into the darker portion of our journey!

Abraham Rodriguez is currently studying neurobiology and chemistry at the University of Iowa in pursuit of his dream of becoming a neurosurgeon. In addition to his scientific understanding of the Universe, Abrahm also has a strong understanding of music due to seven years of classical piano lessons and recitals during his youth. Combining his deep understanding of the physical Universe with a strong desire to catalyze positive changes for our planet, Abrahm sends waves of positive energy rippling throughout the dance floor. This positive intention allows Abrahm to release an enormous amount of optimistic energy during his sets, transforming the dance floor into a tribal stomping frenzy. Zlatan Krizan is a Ph.D Professor of Psychology at Iowa State University in Ames, IA, and has been DJing Progressive Trance for years. Producing Goatrance is not the only thing that Jeremy Green does in his free time. In addition to being a full time college student at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, he also teaches people to snowboard at a nearby ski/snowboard resort called Spirit Mountain. Jeremy Green, or Jagno Gaia, also works with Bobby Ognyanov (Los Angeles, CA) via the internet to produce unique Goatrance tracks under the alias 'Aerosis' for the notorious Suntrip Records, an international Psytrance and Goatrance record label. Recently, Jeremy has teamed up with Josh Stahnke (Optic Mind) to spread positive vibes and cultural awareness via small Psytrance events in Duluth, MN, and Woodbury, MN. The music of Jagno Gaia speaks for itself, enlightening any fortunate listeners with multi-layered, three-dimensional, new-age Goa melodies that are sure to melt your mind. Robert Young's path in music first began in the midwest when he played in several punk and hardcore bands in the early 90's. Later on, he moved to the west coast where he discovered the compelling sounds of electronica. Psychedelic chillout, dub, and trance music are his favorite styles, mixing up an epic soundscape of groovy beats and conscious vibes. As a member of the Audiognomes DJ collective, he is an avid promoter of Psytrance in the Midwest. These days, he divides his time between DJing, music production, sound design, and playing bass in the Chicago dub band Ital Conquerors.
