I was just told "Weed is for sissy's who need it to have an imagination!"

What a bizzare thing to say. First of all, that makes out as if the only reason cannabis is ever used is solely to enhance imagination, totally disregarding all the other intended effects like euphoria, laugher, change in perception etc. Secondly, it's ridiculous to claim it's "needed" to have an imagination, or that those without an imagination are sissies. What about people who have a physical "muse" that helps them be creative and imaginative? Are they also "sissies" who need external influences to foster creativity? Of course not. The claim has all sorts of weird implications, and sounds like it was made by someone with a very limitied perspective and only a very rudimentary knowledge of cannabis and other drugs in general.

Sounds like the one who said it is rationalizing his/her own inability / unwillingness to use cannabis to explore his/her inner depths.

"I am scared to / not allowed to / morally opposed to using chemicals to enhance my imagination, so I will make up a reason why people who do use chemicals for this purpose are less than me."

Weak, ignorant person.

Meanwhile, millions of people across the world used weed and experienced (among other benefits) enhanced imaginations and euphoria...

It certainly doesn't hurt my imagination. I am an artist, so I have played around with it alot during the creative process. It's not better than being sober, but there's a definite difference in my thought process. I can see it in my work when I look over really old stuff.

This.
I hate it when people say it makes them more creative when really all it does is just change the way you think, for better or worse.
It makes you think differently, but not necessarily better, it can go either way.

I've seen people come up with some truly amazing stuff while they were stoned, and I've seen them also come up with utter crap and think it's good. I'm a musician btw. I think working on being creative while sober is the most powerful thing, but it's undeniable that weed can change the way you approach any given project with some surprising results.

If you rely on weed to be imaginative then the OP applies to you, but if you just use it as one of many tools, then it's fine.
