earlier i banged a suboxone 8mg strip. fairly routine thing for me to do, but I haven't done it in awhile

+5 hours I notice a wierd bump on my arm that kind of wraped around my arm. - didn't feel or look like regular hives ( a surface puffyness and tenderness) seemed to be a deeper kind of swelling.

+10 hours later forearm just past my elbow on the underside (pinky side) is swelling the fuck up. it's not painful but I can tell it's partially restricting blood flow. I have a strong pulse in that hand.

this thing is very large and I'm pretty sure it isn't an abcsess, but I've never had one of those either. I've been doing this 3 years and I've never heard of anything like this. I don't want to go to the hospital unless I have to but I know what happens if my blood flow is completely cut off. The area is bright red. I'm thinking it could be some crazy allergic reaction like a giant case of hives because I get those regularly when I IV things like Morphine. I think the center of the problem is the injection site where I did the rinse. It is possible I missed a fair amount into the site, but I really don't think I did. I'm afraid to fall asleep with my arm like this. I figure as long as I can feel the pulse and my hand isn't turning blue I am ok. I have first aid training as I am a member of ski patrol.

Can anyone please tell me what is going on

okay, thanks for the replies. I was freaking out because I thought it was getting worse. the swelling hasnt gotten worse in the last hour or so. It feels better now also. When i noticed it got so big I'd been playing online and my hand fell asleep a bit..

yes micron filters are a great suggestion but I haven't gotten around to getting them yet. too bad they don't make sterile cigarette tubes.

il check it in the morning and see if it gets better. I found an article online about abscess treatment and apparently they need to be lanced and drained and I should take antibiotics also. I have antibiotics here, and if it has to be done I'd like to do it myself at home because I have no health insurance. If someone has reading material that explains the process i would appreciate it

Don't just take random antibiotics you have - they all treat different types of bacterial infections, they aren't one-size-fits-all unfortunately and may well not work on the type of bacteria you have, or penetrate the tissue adequately. Abscesses don't respond well to antibiotics in general either as the infection is encapsulated so the antibiotics in your blood can't get to it easily. It really needs checking out by a doctor.. I understand about the no health insurance but there really is no way you can safely manage it at home if it is an abscess - it would need sterile lancing/drainage, appropriate antibiotics and general check-up to make sure you don't develop sepsis..

One thing you can do is draw a line around any redness. If it is spreading, get help immediately as this indicates a soft-tissue infection and can make you really sick. I know it's not what you want to hear and I really understand that you have no insurance, but this sounds like it definitely needs medical attention..

And micron filters, sterile water etc are definitely a good idea for the future!

Good luck <3

Hi Immugio - i'm going to move this over to Other Drugs as I think you'll get some better responses over there - however effie has provided you with some fantastic advice. <3

Bro, are you an idiot? Those strips are not meant to be injected. Don't do it ever again.
