In an igloo made of asbestos and chicken-wire.
petty little girls
playing battleships
(badly)
one blind stab after
another
until something's been sunk
even if the prize isn't worth the effort
you still wage war
every day
just to be able to say
you've won
because winning nothing
is better than losing something
and every new face
is just a new boat
to capsize.

This gave me tingles, which to me, means that it has done it's job as a poem. Simplistic but moving.

I especially liked: "because winning nothing
is better than losing something"

This is awesome, Raz. I haven't drifted into words for a long time, so I am happy to see that you are still producing great stuff. My favourite kind of poetry expresses things without having to resort to showy language. Also, this:

because winning nothing
is better than losing something

just slays me. Cheers. :)
