I honestly think there is a relationship between the physical closeness of individual posts, and the closeness we feel as a community (sappy but true).

It's also just more convenient to be able to see more posts on the screen at one time. With that dumb layout-y space between each post, it breaks the continuum of the conversation and it requires more scrolling.

I know these things may appear trivial at first, but these things really do have a subtle effect on the atmosphere of BL. The little things do matter. Like font.
 
thank you for expressing your concerns. changing the layout would mean making customizations to the current skin. the admins have discussed tweaking the skin but it doesn't seem like the payout is worthwhile for the effort that it would take.
 
The only thing I can suggest is to change your thread options to show 40 posts per page if you have not done so already. To do this click on 'settings' on the top right of the page, and then 'general settings' on the left of that page. From there it's about 3/4 of the way down the page. I know this doesn't help the issue much, but it could save some time.
 
I'm not a fan of the skin, but we have put in hours of work to make it more usable from it's original state.

I'd love to change it and start from scratch - especially given that vBulletin has essentially signalled an end to its development of v4 and that v5 is generally regarded as being overpriced and somewhat underdeveloped.
