It was overall really unpleasant..
I've tried to smoke once before from an apple but I really felt nothing, I just coughed a lot
Today I smoked more, with actual hits, from a glass pipe
I coughed SO much. It burnt my throat and hurt like hell. When I started to feel something, after a while of trying, it wasn't very pleasant. I felt very dizzy and light headed and disorientated. My eyes also felt extremely puffy- it freaked me out, it felt like my eyes were huge and were going to pop from the uncomfortable pressure. They were normal size in reality, and they also didn't turn very red
My heart was beating INSANELY fast. Just as fast as stimulants make my heart go- it was really scary and only made my anxiety and worry worse. If I walked around or climbed up or down stairs, my heart would almost start to hurt because it was racing so fast
I would also twitch a lot in my arms and legs and fingers and such

I was smoking alone in the guest bedroom in my house- it was just very unpleasant, and it wore off within an hour or two.
Is this a normal reaction- maybe because it was my first time? And input about what happening would help..

Yeah Fuck weed...

What you describe sounds pretty normal

But some people like that, I personally don't like my heart pounding fast and feeling light-headed or dizzy. Anxiety and paranoia is common with smoking weed. Some people can handle it better then others.

It's common for people to get nothing the first time they smoke because the receptors in the brain for those particular cannabinoids are undeveloped. The first time I smoked nothing happened, and then years later when I tried again it was very intense.

The fast heart rate, feelings of dizziness, and the sensation that your eyes are getting bigger are all likely due to blood vessels expanding and your blood pressure dropping. For most people, cannabis has a blood pressure lowering effect. When your blood pressure drops your heart has to work harder to circulate blood and oxygen. Even though it seems similar, it is not like MDMA at all. MDMA increases metabolic action and blood pressure, but cannabis tends to relax the body and decrease blood pressure. Comparing the two, your heart would be beating faster for two completely different reasons.

You say you took bong hits. That means you likely took a high dose for your first time. Bong hits tend to involve deep inhalation in addition to inhaling larger quantities.

If you want to give up on weed I respect your choice, I just think you haven't had a proper introduction yet. If you want to give it another try, I strongly recommend using a pipe with only a tiny bit placed inside, or a joint that you take 1-2 hits max. With either of these methods, you can intake smaller amounts and wait to see how it affects you before having more.

lets say i wanted to try going a circus ride for the first time and i chose the scariest ride first and it freaked me out and i flip out
start small and work up

get a pipe/roll a small joint, take 3 hits or so and wait 5 minutes and see how you are affected repeat process until high
most people new to weed dont get how little weed it takes to get high with no tolerance

also when you start smoking weed the effects may seem unpleasant but thats from getting to high or having not learnt ways to lessen side effects (aka cold drink negating cottonmouth)
also when i feel my heart rate speed up now when im getting high i just see it as a sign im getting higher than usual and it dont let it bother me

It is very common for first time smokers (especially ones who are trying it for the first time by themselves) to get a little freaked out. I smoked with my girlfriend for her first time, and she didn't really have the concept of how to smoke it, how to take the hit in, hold it, and exhale. YOU WILL COUGH. My first time I smoked, I could not catch my breath, my throat was burning, and it scared the shit out of me!!!! But it is in the way you inhale the smoke too. For instance, are you just inhaling it, as if you were taking a breath in? or are you sucking in as if you were drinking from a straw, pulling the smoke into your mouth, and inhaling it from there. I personally prefer to puff it as if I were drinking from a straw. It seems it is much easier to tell how close you are to coughing. And it also does not burn your throat. ALSO, TRY TO AVOID COUGHING OUT THE SMOKE. Even if you have to strain yourself a bit, always try to exhale the smoke, then cough. This should help your throat not burn. My best advice is to hangout with an experienced smoker, someone you trust. Don't feel like you have to impress anyone, or are going to look stupid for asking a question. If I had a dollar for every time I saw one of my nooby smoker friends, holding the lighter to the bowl, without even putting it up to their mouth, trying to light it, torching up the weed. lol. As far as your heart beating very hard and fast, I have not had this (that I can remember). I would just take it easy, and experiment with different ways to get the weed in your system. A nice bong, with clean water, and ice in the chamber is nice. Just beware that with a bong, you don't know how big a hit you are getting, until you choke on it! lol. Also you may want to see about trying a vaporizer, which heats the weed to the point of evaporating the THC into a water vapor. A LOT MORE HEALTHY, and it won't make you cough. Hope this helps!!!! DON'T LET YOUR EXPERIENCE RUIN IT FOR YOU!!!! Marijuana is a fantastic way to relax, unwind, and just chill with your buddies. :)
