I see you,
sitting across the table from me
chain smoking the cigarettes I gave you
your hands shaking as you drink the coffee I bought you
and you tell me the things you never tell anyone else
because you don't have anyone else to tell
and if you did, they wouldn't understand anyway
because they hate you for all the times you lied to them
and stole from them
but I don't
because I know what it's like
to be
addicted.
I see you,
you've been awake for three days
because of the crystal I gave you
that we did together in the bathroom at my work
and you start to cry
because your dealer isn't phoning you back
and you don't have any more money anyway
but you need just a little bit more
to get you through the day
and the last thing that I want is another line
but I know we'll do one anyway
because I can't stand to see you cry
because I feel guilty for giving it to you in the first place
and making you just like me.
I see you,
you're re-applying your lipstick
the make-up we stole when we were high
and didn't give a shit about anyone
or anything
and you tell me it'll be ok
you know how to get more
you'll just sleep with him again
he's cute and you can like him if you try
and he'll give you the drugs for free that way
and they may call you a whore, but I can't
because I see you,
lost little 17-year old girl
who just wants to be pretty
who just wants to feel loved
who doesn't know what else to do.
I see you,
and I tell you I love you
even if no one else does
and the crystal's really got a hold of you
(did I do this to you?)
but I see you,
and then I hate you almost as much
because when I see you,
all I can see is myself.

wow... that was really moving..
the story sounds not too much different from that of someone i know... after finally hitting rock-bottom, she seems to be recovering and getting out of her old ways, i hope she can remain clean and free, and enjoy life instead of just the drugs...

i am at a loss for words. that was one of the most emotional poems i have read in a while....wow...
