I Remember
Kindergarten
Then First Grade.
Abstract pictures
That I had made.
Carousels
At the county fair.
Cotton candy
Lingers in the air.
T-ball games
With fresh cut grass.
Playing first,
And batting last.
My first crush,
First kiss on the cheek.
The quarter I spent,
To buy her a ring.
Training wheels,
Learning to fall.
Getting up
And standing tall.
Car trips
Past fields of gold.
My dog Gizmo,
On my lap to hold.
Thunderstorms
And sunny days.
Morning dew
From foggy haze.
Summer nights
Red Autumn leaves
Pure Winter snow
Springtime green.
Weeping willows
That paint the lake
Her sad branches,
That gave me shade.
Nurturing parents
With love so strong,
A childhood terror
That did no wrong.
Childhood
So sweet, so pure
My old friends
And the way we were.
