Opioids I quit, tapering off massive Hydromorph habit..

I'm so fucking lost right now I just dont know what to do. In ways I wanna die, the only thing that keeps me from doing it is my faith in God. I no longer find happiness in these colourful little pills.

Background: I have been hooked on this shit for 8 years. This poison has destroyed me. I feel like a robot. I have no emotions, money, or friends. It leaves me in agony, and broken, sore, and sick. I have been injecting for almost 5 years. I am now up to 54mgs per shot every 4 hours. (I know, almost unbelievable. I have been at this dose for about a month now. I am currently prescribed 48mgs twice a day of Hydromorph Contin, and 240 8mg Dilaudid tablets per month. Currently I go through all of my scripts plus I buy two more scripts every month. The scripts I buy are 120 18mg hydromorph Contins, and 100 8mg Dilaudid tabs. So Im going through a pile. I use more of thisstuff then anyone I even know.

I have 154 8mg Dilaudid tablets left, 18 24mg hydromorph contins, 7 100mcg fentanil patches, and hundreds of 2mg Ativans (lorazepam). I have now weaned down to 24mgs every 6 hours, which I know is still a shit load, buts its progress.

What should I do for tapering now?
Can I take Ativan and Dilaudid together?(No tolerance to benzo's)
How long should I drag this out?
How sick will I get?
Any other suggestions?

You should slowly taper to a point where it is comfortable for you, an amount where you experience minimal to no withdrawls. (It is doable).

Yes you can take atvian and Dilaudid together but lower your dose becuase benzo's potentiate opiates.

I reccomend you start to taper soon, at least to the point where you are not buying those two extra scripts.

Like I said taper to a point where you get minimally sick, but you have to figure out this dose yourself, everyone is different.

if you're prescribed that much pain meds it must be for a reason..
I wouldn'tjust STOP taking them, i would talk it over with your doctor about you pain management needs and wants, he can help you taper to a lower amount, it's his job and he wouldn't have that job if he couldn't simply ween someone off their meds they put you on.

First, stop shooting it. Then taper slowly, using a variety of methods. Your right, that is a ton of hydromorph, so you might even go to your doc and get a longer acting - less potent narcotic such as hydrocodone or even percocet, which after you taper down can use those as a stepping stone to taper even further, untill you are at about 5mg oxycodone or 7.5mg hydrocodone per day.

Update: Im at 18mgs every 6 hours and its not working well. Hydromorphone is an e><tremely fast ating drug for me. Im usually sweating and jonesing 4 hours after a shot, 6 hours and Im in withdrawal.

So I think I may switch to 12mgs every 4-5 hours. At what point can I start taking tthe ativan? They are scored so I can break them in two. 2mgs may be too much. I have no tolerance to benzos. Im afraid of overdoing it. I would like to drop my dose wat down to 6mg Q.I.D and use the ativan. What should I take and how often?(Ativan)

hydromorph is hard to ween off, I've tried it and did it.

you need to get some suboxone or methadone and use that to stay well without taking any hydropmorphone.

because if you keep trying to ween, you are going to fill withdrawal symptoms everytime you lower your dose and you can't keep a steady dose because of tolerance.

it is a very fast acting, powerful opiate which makes it hard to ween off, but it is not impossible. I certainly weren't taking as many as you but I went through around ~800 of the 2mg in a few months.

I've been there myself. Got most of my drugs free through a pain management clinic and insurance (hydromorphone and hydromorph-contin) and 'supplemented' with other strong OP's.

First I would say getting some buprenorphine is manatory if you want a realitively smooth landing

I would suggest you taper as low as you can go. You will know when you get there.

Then jump to the bup. Just make sure you wait until you are in a least moderate w/d. I wait until I start to get diarrehea. Then start with 1mg sublingual and wait at least 1 hour. You may feel shitty during this period. If you think you need more take another 1mg and stop there. I've never needed more than 2mg to make me feel OK. It's a taper not a replacement. Taper over 7-21 days until you are doing crumbs. You will have minimal acute w/d but PAWS looms.

I have been on Metahdone now for 4 months and i find it really helps wein off the dilaudid but the hydromorph im not too sure, actually i have a question ???? i just picked up 10-- 12mmg hyrdo contin and 5--30 mg hydro contin and i am an IV user i had no problems with dilaudid but last night i injected the hydro contin and i started 1 hour after to fuckin shake like a ragdoll and my teath were chatering like i was on withdrawl lane so i jumped in a hot ass shower for 30 minutes like flippin hot and it finaly calmed down,.....what the hell is that from???? is it the hydro morph contin ??? cause i never got that from dilaudid 8's am i doing something wrong or is that how you buzz on hyromorph contin....PS after the shakes and cold freezzing chattery teeth i passed right out for 5 hours
