Okay so here is some background information on my dog. he has been perscribed 5mg ritalin tabs 3times daily for 3 months. he has been snorting them for the past 2 months every second weekend when he gets his refill. he also smokes weed daily. he has for the past 3 months. his vet only knows about the weed smoking. the vet perscribed him cymbalta and olanzapine for his anxiety 3 weeks ago. its helping alot for him. my dog has the plan to only smoke weed on weekends and never snort his ritalin again. but he is havine trouble sticking to that. do you think that is a reasonable goal for him? he is very scared and has no one to ask this to. any advise i could give him to help would be greatly appreciated.

You shouldn't let your dog snort Ritalin, I'm pretty sure that's bad for dogs, especially as their nose is such an important organ for their general sensory perception.

Giving animals drugs is not something we support on BL.

It's a completely reasonable goal to not snort your Ritalin, and keep weed smoking to weekends, but whether or not you have the willpower is up to you.

If you want to not smoke weed after getting used to daily toking, I recommend getting stuff to do - anything to occupy your mind so you don't sit on your ass. Boredom is the worst enemy of anyone trying to not smoke weed.

im sorry if i offended anyone. i should have noted that my "dog" is figurative. my "dog" has been on christmas break for the past 2 weeks. school resumes for him in a few days. he went and spent a lot of money on training shoes, gym clothes, protein, and supplements. i hope working out every morning at school will release enough good chemicals into his blood stream to give him some motivation to stay away from getting himself into trouble again.

We don't use things like "my dog" on this site. We all know its you. Using things like "my dog" or "SWIM" or whatever does nothing to protect you legally and only makes your posts hard to read.

well then im sorry if it was to hard to read. it made me feel a little better. i am here to find help, no to be pick at. if you have anything that will help me please share it, if not i dont like to be pick at especially from people i dont know.

you must have tough time going on a walk with him after his ritalin refill day.

send the dog to the kennels to be "looked after". too many problems to deal with, i bet the meds are costing you a fortune. cut your loses, discard of the meds. they're not safe for human consumption.

Lol, this thread had me going for far longer then it should have. Damn you for making me research ADHD for canines and possible risky actions:

Just to confirm, what would a dog do on amps. I was considering...

Is it toxic and cause death (preferably before option 2), will the dog attack me/shadow animal control and hate me for giving it a glimp of sentience only to realize its a dog and tomorrow it will be licking its balls again, or would it simply bark arrogantly at me, clean up its own shit and put it in the bin, rape my cat for days and begin working on a plan to emancipate the enslaved and nobile canine from the evil human overlords and their feline spies?

Actually nevermind. None of those sound like a getting high with my dog would be a good thing at all

Ok, opiates withdrawal will make you feel like shit. But if you want to quit, get rid of all your ritalin, smoke some weed to ease the comedown, drink some coffee. When the worst part of the withdrawal, go exercise yourself. Take this seriously and you should be fine.

wow, your dog is really damn strong. what breed is it? i'm thinking a rottie- must be able to put up with all the ritalin up its nose. do you get it to fight? is that the reason for feeding it ritalin? it must be a fucking ferocious bastard.

in all seriousness - if you can't control your abuse of drugs (ritalin) don't take it anymore. simple as. it sounds like you're on the right track though, getting nutrition down you and supplements to help control the problems assosiated with abusing ritalin is the first step to physical recovery. most of the withdrawal is in your mind, you have to keep motivated and on track.

i don't think you should be taking the olanzepine or cymbala either. again another prime example of p-docs throwing anti-psychotics and SSRI's at people who really don't need them so they get hooked on shit and the doctor keeps making money from the pharma companies and you, the fool who keeps going back for refills. the weed is probably triggering a lot of anxiety in yourself too. have you considered quitting smoking it for say two or three weeks while your body re-adjusts and gets back to a normal state?

after that you should be fine. your psychological withdrawal will most likely be over and your body will be recovered. adding cymb and the olanzepine and is putting more stress on your body and you're going to be stuck on meds for a long, long time. fuck that shit.

If you read the rules of BL you'd know that using SWIM, my dog/cat/etc, or anything similar to this is now allowed. We all know its you, and it wont protect you legally. So from now on I suggest you do not continue to use 'my dog'. It will also help you get more serious answer or have people actually care to read what you write. Its rather annoying to read a post when the person uses such words to try and protect themselves. Most people will just ignore your thread/posts, some will make jokes like what is seen, and few will actually care to help you out. If you follow the rules, you'll get better responses, ones that you likely desire.
