One of my closest friends oded on heroin about a week ago. It has been a really hard week for me and I am trying to get some feedback/advice on a few questions. I am just going to tell the whole story.

So my buddy and I had been in jail for about a month and got out a day after eachother. He didn't have a place to stay so I let him crash on my couch. We partied all weekend, had a great time until Sunday comes around. Friday I pick him up and that's the day I tell him it was cool he stayed on the couch till he could get on his feet again. We both did a little bit of dope on Friday but not much at all because our tolerances were so low.... literally between the two of us we might have done a bundle. Saturday morning comes around and he goes to work. Didn't have to do any dope Saturday morning and it was a great feeling..... I take him to work and pick him up around like five. We went and got like 3 more bags a piece (these are just little stamped wax bags nothing great) That night we go out to the bar and come back to the house and do some coke. We stay up till like 330 because he has to goto work at 9. I woke him up and we get in the car. He asks me to take him to get some dope from one of his guys. I take him to this known drug hotel in the city in live in. He calls his dude and meets him. Well when he gets in the car he shows it to me and it was like a dark purple almost black but not tar. I'm guessing it was like a .2. I hadn't brought any cash with me otherwise I probably would've got some too. Alright... so I ask him if he's done the dope since he got home and he says No. I tell him to not do it all since our tolerances were so low and even asked him to give me half. he didn't want to give any up or save any for later.... we start driving towards his job. Which is his dad's business btw. We get like 5 mins from the shop and he pushes the shot. He says to me damn dude that was some pretty good shit. So we are about to pull up at his job and he's nodding so I drive down the next street just to make sure he's going to be good to walk in and work. He was talking and saying yes take me to the shop...I'm good. So I pull up at his dad's shop and kinda pull on the other side from where the office is. I keep asking him if he's good would he be able to go in and be straight faced. He was like yes bro I'm good im good. He grabs his little medicine bag that he had all his works and stuff in and gets out of the car. He walks over to the office door opens it then walks straight back out and sits down on this trailers hitch. So in my mind I'm thinking he's just high and is shaking it off. I drove back up to him to see if he wanted to just go back to the house. He says nah man I'm good I promise I'll call you when I'm getting off. So I leave and head home. That was the last time I saw one of my best friends alive. I start calling him at like 445 to see what's going on and he wasn't picking up.....I text and call finally I assume he's just hanging out somewhere else. About 1245 that night I get a call from a friend saying that my buddy was dead. I didn't know what to do. It's has been weighing really heavy on me since I found out. I have had several people od on me before and it's usually right then and there they go out. So the detectives come by like two days after him passing wanting to know what went on so the family could have closure. I had nothing to hide and went with them and told them about the awesome weekend we had together. I didn't think that I shouldn't tell them what was going on the last few days of his life. I wouldn't want someone to not tell my family what I was up to if I were to pass away. Well the reason I'm making this post is because I need some feedback from someone about what they think is going to happen Now. Like after in went and talked to the cops they came the next day and asked for my phone so they could download it to their computer. I right then got the funny feeling something wrong was going on. I told them no they couldn't get my phone because why would they need it. During the "interview" I asked them did they have his phone because they wanted to know where he got the dope from, I told them I'd imagine it was one of the last people that he called. Well when they came to try to get my phone they said they didn't have his phone anymore. Alright so my questions are do you think these POS cops are going to like try to charge me with my buddy dying?!?!? Has anyone ever had someone od like 15 mins after doing a shot? I know that they can charge people with like murder if you are the one who sold the person the dope but what in the world would they charge me with? There is a church across the street from his job and the cops said they saw him sitting on that trailer hitch before they went into church then they were the ones to find him after they got out of church a hour later. Alot of shit is weird about this whole situation because I know someone was there for him to open the office door. His dad was always a real dick to him and hated that he got high. Today his dad went and put no contact orders out on me for his self and my buddy's sisters. He lied on them saying I met up with one of his sisters and told her to come back to my place to get my buddy's clothes and things. It clearly didn't happen like that and I have the messages where his sister asked me if she could come get the stuff and we never met anywhere. She came over with her boyfriend and got everything. He also said that i was a suspect in the death in the restraining orders...how can I be a suspect if I'm a junkie too and I just took my buddy to score......My girlfriend and I went to the funeral and his sisters were hugging me telling me not to beat myself up because I really flipping have been. His dad on the way out the door said something to my girlfriend like I left him there to od.... like I've said I've had people od in front of me before and if I thought one of my closest friends was ODing I wouldn't have left that day...... I just thought he was high since he was talking and walking around. Can anybody tell me anything? Has anyone been in a situation like this or know someone who has? Please help me out and give me some guidance on what I should do....my lawyer said th normal stuff. Just don't talk to the cops anymore and if they come charge me with something ask for him to be present now. This is a real life changing experience for me and I don't know where else to turn or what to do with my emotions....

That's a tough situation and I truly feel for you going through it. Definitely don't just talk,l about everything, but be honest. You never saw where he went to get the dope even if he showed it to you. I would avoid telling them you went to pick it up with him unless it's too late so they don't assume you know the dealers location or description. As far as legal advice no one can give you that. Definitely find a lawyer to get a free consultation. This is a tricky situation that can easily go either way.

As far as your friends od it happened and it is a shame hile didn't let you help him. Combined with fatigue he could've easily fell asleep and just stopped breathing because of respiratory depression and probably went peacefully. Drug od are usually complicated and have to do with compounded issues. This is not your fault and remember that as you did call him out and keep your eye on him best you could. All you can do is to learn from the many mistakes not just on you and keep moving forward. Live in for your friend..... Maybe get clean for them?

I hope things turn out ok and that your friend may rest in peace.

Fuck those pigs wicked sketchy asking for your phone. Id call up the dealers and warn them cops have his phone. I would have just told the cops he was crashing at your place and you knew he does dope sometimes but dont partake yourself or know anything about his use.

Stay strong man, im sorry for your loss.

You left him there? His dad was the last one to see him its his fault if you had to blame someone for not calling 911- its not like you left him unconchious somewhere. Dope can take time to full hit, he decline your offers to stay with him. Its not your failt at all bro, you did all you could.

Stop talking to the cops right now! They are trying to build a case against you. It's time to start getting bail money ready and a lawyer on deck.

Edit nvm you already did that. Smart move. In the meantime lay low and try not to do anything illegal. I would get the fuck outta town if that's an option.

leaving town isnt going to do anything...

and yea its a shitty situation, and people get charged with selling dope that kills people around here all the time... i dont think they would charge you with anything for driving him there, itd obviously be better if you would have not said anything at all to the cops, cause they lie out their teeth and will try and fuck you over any which way they can... personally i would have told the family directly what happened, mabe the sister if the dad was not wanting to talk or whatever but IMO its not really the cops place to tell em... obviouslly he ODd and from their side that should have been it, IMO....

but yea you got a lawyer lined up and that should cover ya.... but you really should get clean... im not in any position to preach but its sooo fuckin nice not having to be sick and worring about all the other shit that comes w dope... anyways stay safe and sorry for your loss, but in the end its not your fault...

Your friend dying is not your fault. You did everything you could to discourage him from doing the full shot and he did it anyway. In the end, you did what you could and it was his decision to not listen and it cost him his life. This is a wake up call man, do you want the same for yourself?

Like the other poster said, they are trying to build a case against you and you need to stop talking to them right now. They want someone to take the fall and I'm sure your friends dad wants you charged with something. The best thing you can do is get a lawyer, save up some money just in case they detain you. Tell your lawyer everything but do not consent to any searches (like your phone/house). Lay low and wait for this to blow over. It's probably best to get clean so they don't catch you trying to cop and arrest you again. Get on suboxone or methadone at least.

Leaving town won't do anything but make you look extra guilty in the blind eyes of the law. Stand your ground.

I am SO sorry for your loss. I just lost the love of my life to a heroin OD. The circumstances regarding his death were different in the way that a person watched him die and literally did nothing to help him while they watched him struggle. They even moved his body to make it look like he fell asleep in a bed when infact he died in a chair. They stole and disposed of his wallet with the dumb thought that it would be hard to id him and did not report the death until almost 7 hours later!! I do not know the laws in your town, but I see no wrong doing on your part the day of your friends death. You were not there when it happened so they can't even charge you with criminally negligent homicide. You also did not give or sell him the drugs that killed him! Again, I am so very sorry you lost a great friend. I hope that experiencing such an awful loss in such a preventable way will open everyone's eyes to the fact that you really NEVER know what you're gonna get when it comes to drugs these days! In my state as well as numerous other states, the amount of heroin od's has in some places tripled since 2012! People with large habits are dropping like flys from the fentanyl cuts, but that's for another topic. Keep us posted as to what happens and try to keep Your head up!

Could've been methadone cut.... Without toxicology report or tests on his dope any speculation is a pointless waste of time. Definitely keep aware that they will build a case on you whether they pursue it or not. Just prepare a defense with an experienced lawyer worst case scenario.

As everyone and I already pointed out you did what you could. It wasn't your connection it was his. You called the heavy dose out and everything. The best thing you can do now is not blame yourself or even waste time in the blame. Just embrace what happened, mourne your loss, and do whatever you can to learn and move on.

I am sure your friend would want you to live on and be happy rather than waste your potential crying for him while I bet his spirit will appreciate whatever you do for him as well as yours as long as it is to continue living on in life always working to become stronger. Remember he will live on within you as long as you're alive with him in your heart and mind.

I will be keeping an eye out here and wish you the best.

Lost a few friends to heroin OD since July 2014, with last one dying NYE 2015.

Both ladies mixed xanax/heroin, both IV users.

Your friend could have possibly had something else in his system at the time you didn't know about, or did too much heroin. You'll never know the truth unless you get a toxicology report.

Most people OD due to redosing or too much and mixing H with benzos, alcohol, or other meds.

Deepest sympathy. You can't blame yourself. You friend was an adult, once you dropped him off and even prior, his life was in his own hands, just like my friends.

To the OP,

As for your rigorous honesty with the cops, well, no good deed goes unpunished. If you have enough money to continue to pay the lawyer and are charged with a felony, then you MUST DEMAND for a GRAND JURY of 12 of your peers--NOT A JUDGE (judges are less understanding in these matters than 12 ordinary citizens who must make a UNANIMOUS decision to find against you--to decide if the police have amassed enough presentable evidence to bring you to a trial. It is your right as a US citizen charged with a felony to do so. The police have to tell you this too, but it's in the fine print that they will read it to you too fast hoping you won't notice. They did they did that to me in a secret court in the jailhouse with only me, a judge, and this bitchy ass court reporter. I immediately called her out, saying, "I want a GRAND JURY." It worked, and they dropped the bullshit felony charge they had.

Do not say another word to the cops, the are absolutely building a case.

You might not be their primary target but they very well could wave charges in your face to get you to talk. At the end of the day, someone is dead and the cops are investigating. You cannot talk your way out of a manslaughter or a drug supply homicide case.

Anything you say can and will be used against you. Even posts on Bluelight.
