Thyroid problems are giving me anxiety even in social settings and depression. Alcohol has been my saving grace but no more I want a more safe alternative . But so far none that I have used has done the magic of alcohol.

Valium is shit , Lyrica is mostly shit . No access to MDMA . NO access to Kratom , No acces to GHB or Marijuana

Now what exactly should be done ? Xanax and Tramadol are options

I know you will say look for thyroif treament but thats takes months for effect i need something now . Its really shit when all the addicts lead that FDA! To prohibit all these when there are people that really needs them and there only option is a toxic drink or a ssri sugar pill !

Tramadol should be fine for social situations. A 100mg dose should be a good starting point. Xanax for me is to sedating, but some love it for socializing. Try .5mg to start and titrate up.

Idk if this is safer than alcohol especially because you will probably just start drinking on top of the meds. Why don't you have access to anything else?

Cause most of the things (par alcohol) that are helpful socially are illegal or hard to get (MDMA - GHB - Marijuana - Kratom)

Most people start tramadol on 50 mg , isnt 100 a bit too much for a start ? Plus why would i drink while taking them ...if they substitute alcohol perfectly i dont need it..but thats if they really do.

I feel that using any substance to facilitate life in a habitual way is always a mistake. Almost all drugs that provide a more immediate benefit are highly-addictive and dependence prone. Sure, SSRI's aren't great or magical like we'd want them to be, but they can be helpful in giving you that little push you need to expand beyond your comfort zone. Perhaps trying a legitimately short-term prescription for an anxiolytic (benzodiazepine, most likely) in tandem with some therapy, possibly dialectical behavioral therapy.

What dose of lyrica did you try?

It completely depends on the individual, but for me a tiny dose of methylphenidate can be very anxiolytic too and with that energy it's easier to socialize. Also when used sparingly, chances are that your brain will 'learn' from those experiences so that it might be easier afterwards to overcome the anxiety without a med - which is not true with benzodiazepines.

But probably no doc will prescribe stimulants for this indication. Other try might be either clonidine or a beta blocker in low dose, they keep your nerves from over-excitation and you avoid negative learning.
