i need help for someone

First of all, some of you are so fucking insensitive and ignorant (see above comment for example ^)
Addiction is addiction. There is no rule that says you can only be addicted to coke, meth, or heroin. If you let something consume and ruin your life and relationships, you have a problem.
Without going into detals, my boyfriend went crazy two times because of weed, one of which happend 3 days ago. He is in a hospital now, but is still not with it. I have lost my ability to concentrate, have lost interest in school, lost most of my friends, etc. No, it wasn't directly the weed, but it was the weed affecting my ability to make rational decisions and to think clearly.
Weed is not a harmless drug. You have got to be a complete moron to think that it is. Just like any other drug, it has effects on the body and brain that are not ignorable.
However, and although it's not something you desire to hear, my advice is to let it go and let him make his own decisions. Just like any other drug, you pretty much have to realize on your own that it is not good to be doing. But, he has to make this decision on his own. He has to see the consequences before he is going to change. In all honesty, you can't do anything but be supportive and be there fr him. Don't push it on him, he will probably just get defensive and angry. If he has just started smoking, he is not going to see the harm. Believe me, I have been smoking daily for 3 years and have just begun to realize how much I let it control me and ruin my life. Good luck.

I could be wrong but i thought that the purpose of bluelight was to help ppl with questions on drugs and that it was a community of mutual respect.
Now i am in a situation where i would like to know the answer to the original question. How do you help someone who is addicted to pot (or anything else) give up that addiction.
One of my best friends smokes a minimum of about a 20 a day. Recently he was pulled up by the police and drug tested after smoking with some mates at a park. In his blood the police found not only marijuana but also speed which he had snorted whilst smoking. This guy is only 17 and is facing a court case that could potentially ruin his life. He wants to give up pot but doesn't know how to go about it so some help would be nice.

Okay, my other two comments werent on topic, so I'll give my thoughts on helping someone who wants to quit pot but is depressed or feels they are addicted.
I would simple explain to them that the drug they are taking quite literally changes the way your brain works. If they feel they are depressed and thats why they need it, tell them that maybe thats why they started doing their drug to such a degree. But Now that it controls them, it is What prevents them from being happy. In order for them to be happy naturally, they have to give it up and let their brain return to its normal functioning.
Example of bad pot effects on the brain-
I said earlier that I quit smoking pot. It didn't make me a depressed person specifically, but after not smoking for a few weeks, I noticed my sex drive come back, and I also noticed alot of mental issues I was having go away. I was having problems understanding why men and women would get together in a partnership...it was really weird, and I'm glad it's over.
So the best you can do for someone is to explain how it effects them, and that it can be reversed. Now, I know some people don't have these problems, but Alot do, and don't even realize their depression can be related. But anyways, the only thing you can do besides explain these things to them is support them in their efforts to quit in any way you can. Of course, if they don't want to quit, and won't listen to you, then there is nothing you can do.
That's my thoughts on the subject, I hope it helps out. Try asking this is Darkside, they might be better able to help.

not in judgment, but in observation:
"you ever suck dick for marijuana?? i sucked dick for coke!"
"i seen him!"

Oh my, I read that post and couldnt stop laughing.. I dunna, just the way you threw in all that crap about "he is my x-boyfriend who is my friend and who I love" .. I dunna, was I the only one that found humor in how that was written? Kinda like how a 16 y/o in a mall would tell youthis storythat could have been sumed up in a singel sentence, but instead is dragegd out forever with all these little un-important bit of nothing..
ANYWAY, this is the wrong forum as you have been told, so I will move this the THE DARK SIDE .. itt sounds kinda like the kid has just hit a rough part in his life, and he is using a little weed - hey, there is NOTHING WRONG WITH losing yourself in chemicals to forget all the problems in your life AS LONG AS THIS DOESNT BECOME A LONG TERM THING! SO he is depressed over something, hell, everyone needs to sulk away and use drugs for their escape once in their life ..
If you're truely concerned with his drug use you have an uphill battle ahead of you, believe me, the is depressed so thats a HUGE obsticle - right now he needs something to fill the void in his life, and he has found marijuana.. another point to consider is how informed he is - if he is like many marijuana addicts, hell, MOST - then he believes "marijuana is harmless" .. if he is REALLY foolish he might even believe that "marijuana is not a drug" .. and he is also likely to believe that marijuana is not addictive - this is a biggie, he probably doesn't see his use as a potential problem, so you also must contend with that ..
Well, good luck! I have move this thread so you can just cruise over to the Dark Side and continue the discussion there!
